Don't let the untended weed filled exterior put you off, this place is a little gem for anyone with an interest in history . Once inside what appears quite a small building from the exterior , there are a wealth of well displayed artefacts on various levels and nooks and crannies ...I particularly loved the earthenware some of which dated back to the 5th century...fabulous views from the roof tops too, would recommend anyone visiting Limassol to take an hour out of their day to visit this gem
Such a lot to see in this extremely well preserved castle, everything very well displayed and lots of information. Just amazing to see such a lot of seriously ancient artefacts.
Many restaurants and cafeterias, good food but little expensive, it is on old town of Limassol, many shops .I love walking around there and have a frappe.
A cute, little medieval castle, located close to happening areas in Limassol, shopping and nightlife. Maintained very well, without losing out the architectural splendour. Great view of harbour, from the rooftop. When we travelled, palace had been used for some high end Italian fashion shoot. It can be rented for special occasions, like parties, corporate events or a lavish dinner.
This castle is smack in the middle of the city centre. It's a little strange that they built everything around it, but they did. The entry price is €4.50 per person, which is almost double everything else we did, and having already been to the Kolossi Castle we decided to skip this particular one. There were a couple of cannons on the outside that seemed more decorative, but nothing made us want to buy tickets and cross into the actual interior.
Propably without Limassol's lifestyle and nightlife, its castle wouldn't be so important, but a short walk around it, during the night, along the traditional tavernas and restaurant, will help you fall in love with the castle, even though it lacks the history and grandiur of castles in the rest of the Europe.
Small entry fee but so much to see and learn. The story of richard lionheart and berengaria was fascinating. Apparently a storm has made them have a terrible journey and they got stranded and saved so he built this castle on the island . Great day out and if you get to the top you will get the best view of the town too
This is more of a museum than anything on the island. But the history is also in the buildings surrounding the castle. The small cafe/restaurants are great!
Great collection of medieval art found in Cyprus. The building is equally impressive and it offers a lovely view over Limassol.
This castle is right in the middle of the old town, Walking distance from the new marina. It's been beautifully restored and at night is even more attractive in the floodlights. Worth a visit.
