The Lincoln Children's Zoo is one of the best kept small zoos in the US. It is just the right size for young children to stay interested during their visit. Older children enjoy the opportunity to learn about the animals in a smaller setting so as not to be intimidated by the size. It is definitely a zoo to see when in Lincoln, NE. If you don't, you will miss a local treasure!
Don't expect this to compare with Henry Doorly, but, this is definitely a good time-killer for the kids. Our girls love it. There is also a train that takes you on the outside of the zoo to see everything. Worth a try.
We love the zoo. We can spend an hour or two, which is great with small children. My three year old granddaughter loves it. Fun play areas. Lots of opportunity to interact with animals. You can pet snakes, lizards, goats, llamas, etc. rWe are zoo members and visit three or four times a year. Nice mix, with an annual visit to Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, which takes more time, effort and energy!
The Lincoln Zoo in enjoyable for a smaller city like Lincoln. If I let my kids roam, I don't feel like I am going to lose them like I might at a larger zoo. They have some nice snacks and food options if you want to eat there and not leave.
This zoo is the right size for young ones as I feel they won't get all tuckered out from walking a lot. It is shaded by large trees for those hot summer days, have a little train to ride to start or end your day and food spots for when the munchies hit you. A large assortment of animals to see and stop to read the info on them. Fun learning experience for this grandma with her grandkids. I highly recommend visiting as I found it to be a lot of fun, the location is great as there are rose gardens to the northwest of the parking lot, and across the street is 'Sunken Gardens' which is a must see Lincoln spot.
This is a great zoo for Children. Not so big that you have to worry about parking or getting lost. You can spend an hour or even more if you want. True it is not the Spectacular Henry Dorley Zoo, but kids love it!
I took my grandchildren here and what a huge disappointment. This place is way to small to have any animals. It's ridiculous how small the enclosures are for these animals. The train ride was fun. I don't recommend anyone go here. I do recommend PETA coming here and see the horrible living conditions. The poor horses looked so sad, they keep them tied up on a carousel walking in circles all day.
Went with several families and had kids ranging from 1.5 to almost 5. I envisioned it being a nightmare, but I was dead wrong. There was plenty to do for kids of all ages, and always nearby, so we could still keep an eye on everyone without worrying that they were a full floor away. This is a great place to bring children.
This zoo is great for families. It's big enough for little kids for an afternoon outting. Lots of great animals there, and treated great. Also have train and pony rides. My kids love to go there often.
Great size for young children and old Grandma's! Very safe feeling...can let the kids roam. Lots of places to sit in the shade and enjoy watching the children interact with the staff showing the animals. Staff is young and knows the animals and explains about them very well. Enjoyed learning about them. Some rare animals that other, big zoos, don't have! Good munchies. Train ride was fun...as was the conductor! Definitely a zoo to see.
