When you visit Lynchburg, this is a nice tour. See what old time southern Courthouses were like, nice wood work and some fancy wood trim. Now if you want to actually use the services, this style was designed when no one hurried but had time to visit....
I thought it was cool to see the old courthouse and it was a pretty neat sight!
I loved this place. Proper 'hands on' touch and feel museum with helpful volunteer staff and a jail you can lock your husband in!!
The is a beautiful, southern town square with the centerpiece being this totally restored and magnificent courthouse. We spent a few hours just enjoying the town square with it's shops and dining as well as every angle of the pristine building. If you go to the Jack Daniel's Distillery Do not miss the town of Lynchburg.
My husband suggested we go visit the courthouse during our afternoon in Lynchburg. While I was not overly excited about the idea, I ended up enjoying the experience. The building still has many of the original items in it - such as the cells, some of the furniture, and the most unique concrete-over-metal ceilings I have ever seen. While it does not take much time to tour the entire facility, it was well worth the $1.00 we paid for admission!
This is an old country courthouse. It's nothing special.
Benches and roses and motorcycles and hydrangeas. Great setting for pictures so I got some of my husband for his birthday. Easy to park here and walk around the square to the little shops, too.
After touring the Jack Daniels plant we went to the town square and did some shopping. It has very uniuqe shops with anything you could ever want with Jack Daniels on it. We purchased some excellent chocolate in the sweet shop.
A surprisingly interesting attraction. In use until comparatively recent years, the jail looks like they moved out yesterday. lots of interesting memorabilia of the Sherrifsand their families. Well worth doing.
Just stopped and took pictures after visiting Jack Daniels distillery. Didn't go inside. Pretty old courthouse on the town square of Lynchburg.
