We spent about three hrs in this place and we were rushing through all the activities. There are lots of interesting things to see and do in this modern museum. The kids were very entertained as well as the adults.
I enjoyed it with my husband except for all the children running wild. I guess there was a big birthday party going on and it was packed full of children.
Our group ranged from 6 to older adults. We all enjoyed it. Even chased the 6 yr old up the clouds. It was a very educational experience for the 6 yr old. Worth the time to stop and enjoy the educational experience and the little info they have of Nevada was enjoyable to learn too. The Staff was very nice.
Need a place to take the kids for a few hours entertainment? This qualifies as a winner. Lots of hands on- interactive displays/exhibits.
We took a day off of skiing to drive to Reno and wanted something fun and educational for the children and that would also be interesting g for us. This was a good way to spend a few hours. The building looks new and modern and was full of children from toddlers to early teens. There are tons of interactive exhibits including an electronic etch a sketch, a phenomenal three story climbing structure, a mining town, a glider with working controls and many more . Today the shop was set up for do-it-yourself stuffed animals. There are also exhibits to demonstrate science such as earthquakes and history. We spent over two hours there and could have spent more.
Lots of fun for kids, but adults must accompany them. Everything is interactive with lots of historical and educational activities.
This was an cool museum that was like a miniature version of the Exploratorium in San Francisco. There were hands on activities and a lot of information about Reno's history.Great place for adults and kids alike!
We were skiing at Squaw for the week and took a day off due to cold and high wind conditions. We decided to visit the Nevada Discovery Museum for our eight year old twins, and we are thrilled we did. Our kids loved the electric etchosketch. Heck, I loved that. The climbing structure (goes from basement to second floor) is spectacular and unlike any I've ever seen. The kids spent a lot of time exploring that and the water area at the base. There is an art activity area where the project was making stuffed animals. Museum staff roamed the room, provided guidance and manned the sewing machines. The activity required quite a bit of parental involvement, but it was fun for all of us. The gift shop is worth a visit on its own. I found a fabulous puppet unlike any other for my four year old nephew as well as a birthday gift for a nine year old. There was more to see at the museum, but we ran out of time.
Hello Jeff,Welcome to Nevada and thanks for visiting The Discovery!
We took our 11 year old here and she had blast! They had science and learning projects and neat things to look at!
