This was our 7th and last stop on our personal Niagara wine tour on 10/10/14. There are many more wineries but we only had a few hours so we had to pick and choose and we picked out the 7 wineries we felt had wines we would like. The outside of the winery was very pretty and I wish we'd had more time to spend but it was getting close to 6pm (closing time) so all we had time for was a quick tasting. We tried there port (and port is our favorite wine) but didn't find it worthy of purchase. This isn't to knock their port but we've tasted a lot of ports and we were determined to only buy things we felt were different or significantly better than anything we've already tasted or bought. We did buy their Honeymoon Sweet wine which is a red table wine. The bottle is so pretty we plan on having it cut and turned into a candle once we drink the wine.
This winery has many sweet wines that I enjoyed during the colder season. The patio in front is setup perfectly to enjoy as a couple or a small group. There are a few dry wines here, but prefer to only get the sweeter ones at this winery. The staff is complimentary and well informed on their wines.
Honeymoon Winery is a great place to visit. I have been here a few times both on bus tours and small groups. Every time the service was great and the wine was delicious. I would highly recommend this winery to everyone. No matter how big or small the group the service is excellent and the whole place feels really warm and cozy.
We enjoyed the wines and the atmosphere at Honeymoon Trail. The staff was pleasant and the grounds were attractive.
SUMMARY: The staff was uninviting and rude. I would not come here if you are in a large group. The details are below.I went to this winery with a group of about 30 yesterday. We included this winery in our self-made wine tour because we had heard good things about it in the past. I was the coordinator in my group and I collected the money from everyone ahead of time to make it easier on the winery since we were such a large group. Over the phone, I was told $6 for 4 wine tastings and we get to keep the glass. I collected money from 22 individuals for the tastings. I kept my group together as one of the employees were checking IDs at the door. She already seemed very flustered. I went first and I was telling her who was in my group so we could stick together. The ladies inside were distributing the glasses and I was trying to help so we could streamline the process and make things faster. Each glass had 4 tickets for tastings, except one of my friends only had 3 tickets. He asked for one more and the employees got upset and said "No it should only be 3." I mentioned we were not part of the event that was taking place this weekend and that everyone else was getting 4 tickets, and that whoever I spoke to on the phone said it was 4 tastings. They REFUSED to give my friend a fourth ticket. Whoever was not participating in tasting was patiently waiting for us outside the physical building. I made special note to make sure everyone was under control and not being obnoxious. I stepped outside myself after I was done with the tastings. All of a sudden, the first employee that was checking IDs was running towards me telling me our chauffeur was calling for everyone back to the bus. I immediately knew this was NOT TRUE as our driver for the day particularly liked our group. I asked him personally if the lady had complained about us and he said, "Yes, she thinks you guys were being too loud. I told her I haven't had a problem with you all day though and I'm not sure what she was talking about." I started calling my group back to the bus so we could leave this uninviting winery. As I was calling people back, I saw the same lady yelling at people from MY GROUP to get back to the bus. I thought this was ESPECIALLY rude, seeing as how I was already rounding up my group and majority of us were already back on the bus. Because of the rude, uninviting staff, and how unwelcoming they all were to my group, I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND COMING TO THIS WINERY. Especially not with a large group because they clearly are unable to handle too many people at once. I'm not sure why they can't, seeing as how they are a winery and fall seasons are always busy. If you have a large group DO NOT COME HERE.
We really liked the wines at this winery. They have a wide variety of tastes. I am sure yo will find some you like.
Our newest favorite thing to do is follow NYS Wine Trails. Our last visit was the Niagara Trail, including the Honeymoon Trail Winery. They by far had the best selection of my favorite, sweet wines. Let me recommend the Niagara. Our server knew her products well. We were able to taste many of the wines and of course, bought many to stock the wine rack at home. This is somewhere we will visit again soon.
Wonderful place to visit and taste wine. Very cute little shop and tasting bar. They have plenty of stock on hand for purchase. The facilities are clean and tidy, and the personnel are friendly and helpful. The only thing i wanted to see was their vineyards, but they stated they outsourced for their juice from other local growers. I drove 5.5 hours to get there and make my wife happy, and they did not disappoint us.
The man who worked there when we went was very funny. He made our tour worth while. He was very good at knowing which wines went well with pairings. You could tell he was passionate about what he does vs. just seeing it as a job
We had to wait a minute for a space at the bar. When we stepped forward a woman (not a Lady) says ' $16 dollars'.and puts two glasses on the bar in front of us. My response was 'excuse me?'. '$16 dollars' she says again 'if you want the glasses'. 'I don't needs the glasses'. She quickly changes the for two plastic cups and says, '$10 dollars'. 'What will $10 dollars get me? I asked. '4 samples each'. NO courtesy. NO friendliness. NO politeness. Just a pair of money grubby harpies. They said they don't grow the grapes and they don't make the wines. TOTAL waste of time. SO many better places to go to.
