What a great place for everyone to visit. Sand, water, food, rose gardens, picnic areas, walking areas.... It's just the place to be to watch amazing sunsets. Definitely worth taking time to spend a few hours or a day!
Lakeview park has always been a popular park. However, after years of neglect the City made a great move and transferred responsibility to the Lorain County Metro Parks! Wow! What a transformation!. The Metro parks completely refurbished this tired an neglected park. The beach is now clean and inviting. The beach is protected by a couple of strategic break walls make for a pleasant experience. The original bath house was torn down and replaced with a new beautiful building. There are restrooms, changing rooms and showers for beach goers. The main building houses the Rose Cafe and has light snacks and can be rented for parties, weddings, etc. The original Rose garden has been restored and is gorgeous! Lawn bowling is very popular and the lawn bowling course is exquisitely maintained. The big fountain has lights and night and is quite beautiful. There are picnic shelters and plenty of picnic tables. The park is beautiful, the lake is beautiful and views are spectacular. A great place to work on your tan, watch a beautiful sunset or have a picnic!
We have visited Lakeview park many times when we drive up. It's always beautiful and rarely crowded. The other park goers are always friendly. There is plenty of parking and good places for photo ops. We got married on the beach and have beautiful pictures in the rose garden.
We stopped here on the way from Sandusky to Geneva on the Lake. There is a nice promenade walkway that goes along the water and allows for some good picture taking of the Coast Guard station and lighthouse to the east of the park. Seems to be a nice place to sit and relax for a spell and we thought the beach was nice enough to walk on.
In town visiting and we wanted to see the lake. The in-laws took us to Lakeview Park for a good view of Lake Erie. The beach was clean and raked and not extremely busy. Granted, it was early in the season and the water was still cold so not to much swimming going on. There is a nice little cafe where you can enjoy a light meal and an adult beverage from the sun bathed deck. Worth a visit even if you aren't a beach person.
Being raised by the ocean, Lakeview Park in Lorain, Ohio, is one of my favorite spots. It's located along the shores of beautiful Lake Erie. Be sure to bring your camera and expect some gorgeous shots—the lighthouse, the Rose Garden, the historical colorful Easter Basket, the sailboats, and the beautiful sunsets, to mention a few. You'll be amazed at the immensity of the lake, which looks more like the ocean. You may be able to spot freighters going and coming, and even coming into the harbor. My husband and I love to walk along the boardwalk and breath deeply, cleaning stale air out of our lungs. There are also pavilions with picnic tables and grills, and even the Rose Café for indoor dining, catering, and a fabulous view of the waterfront. Be sure to come, visit!
Lakeview Park is a beautiful park & well taken care of by the Metro Parks. I like the music in the evenings on various weekends.
Rented a lake house nearby because of this beach. Located across from a park, walking trails, local artists hot spots, Rose Cafe with gardens and of course the lake. So much like being at the ocean. Open at dawn and closed at dusk. Life guards on duty during summer.
So here is a review of a local spot that we have enjoyed for many years. The whole area sparkles since the Metro Parks took it over. We have attended some concerts that are held in the summer. There are nice covered areas for picnics. The beach is cleaned and is nice for games of different sorts. The best part, the "jewel", is the rose garden. Carefully planted and attended, it is a "magical" place to walk and marvel at the beauty. Some of the varieties give off a lovely aroma, but of course you want to check for bees before you get too close! Bring your camera along if you want to take pictures, but no picking allowed!
Ok the Water is Dirty and There is nothing to do. Very Poor Beach very Poor. The only people that prolly put Excellent is cuz they prolly lived in Lorain there whole life and Haven't been to a REAL Beach so to them it's Amazing.
