Great place to hike. Beautiful and quiet, and fresh, pure scent of the pine trees will awaken your senses.
We visited the Mohican State Park for the first time last fall. We love the hiking trails. The area is very nice and well taken care of. We live about 2 hrs away and this may become our new favorite weekend getaway spot!
I am lucky to live about 25 min. from here. We take our boys here every year before school and always have so much fun. We ride our bikes through the camp ground. Hunt for crawfish in the streams. Hike the trails. Climb the fire tower. There are a lot of trails. You shouldn't worry about getting lost, just watch for the markers on the trees. I recommend the dam and the waterfall. There are plenty of picnic tables for lunch and bathrooms through out the park. I also run the trails there during the warmer months. It is so pretty and what a great workout. Just watch your step and be sure to bring water. There are places to eat and stores to pick up any essentials you might need. You can rent canoes, play put-put and other activities also, if that is more your style.
I live very close to the state park, so I have spent a lot of time there. They have a lot of hiking trails and horseback trails. The gorge overlook is beautiful all year round. There is canoeing, horseback riding, numerous campgrounds. The lodge is gorgeous if you like luxury "camping".
We stay in the cottages every year - some need more work than others, but it's Mohican! We are here for the river, the hills and the scenery! The cottages have everything you need, even a fire ring by the river bank for a camp fire! The park is clean and beautiful with the bridge over the river; great photo op! There are hiking trails, mountain bike trails and canoe rentals close by. Park store has awesome ice cream :) - all around great place to be!
This is a very nice State lodge in a beautiful setting. The rooms are well maintained. The staff are friendly. And the restaurant and bar have good food. The only downside was they only had one bartender for a very large crowd and the wait time for service was very long.
We have hiked every trail and enjoyed them all. There are 5 different trails of varying difficulty. The trail to the firetower is long and a bit steep so take water. My favorite trail is the one that leads to Big Lyons Falls. It's absolutely beautiful no matter the season and almost everyone is capable of the trail. The covered bridge is also great. The campsite can be extremely crowded during the summer months but we went last weekend 9/19 and there was virtually no one there! It was wonderful. Spacious sites and plenty to do (canoeing, mountain bike, etc).
Loved the ride, leaves were outstanding. Lots of deer at dusk. Take a quiet walk in the am and enjoy the peace and quiet.
We decided to come here for hiking on a fall Saturday. It's important to note that there is no hiking near the lodge but it's a great place to get a hiking map, food and a clean restroom. We hiked along the river. It was lovely. At the covered bridge we saw a wedding party. Very sweet!
There are tons of different activities do at this park! From bike riding, canoeing, swimming, hiking, climbing the tower, to mountain biking this place has it all!!!
