Let me start by saying that the girl at the desk during check-in was rude. She gave us different information than what I was given over the phone when I booked the room. The family rest room inside the water park was probably the dirtiest I have ever used! There were only about 15 tubes for the slides and the lazy river. The cafe was out of fries, chicken nuggets, ranch, and a couple of other items. We had two towels in our room (a room for four people) and we waited for over an hour when we called for more. My husband finally went and got them himself. The toilet wouldn't flush right and the shower had one temperature... Scalding!!! Don't waste your money!
My daughter enjoyed herself, but my wife and I DID NOT! The other patrons seemed to be there as a group, family I'm guessing. There was a (possibly 8yr old)little girl in the younger sized pool acting out what looked like she was grinding the floor. Very disturbing that she has even seen that to mimick it. But once I saw and heard her mother I was no longer surprised. Wearing clothing WAY TO SMALL,with obscene language on it, cursing at her kids to get out of the pool. Not bc the child was acting inappropriately but bc they were leaving. This type of Patron seems to be a regular at Co-Co keys Rocford,as I said "Rockford Finest". Aside from the patrons, the water park was dingy and cold. The locker room was the same. If you really want to enjoy yourself I suggest going to the Dell's. It's s bit of a drive, but the hotel's and water parks are second to none when it comes to anywhere in a 2 hour radius of Rockford. My HIGHLY RECOMMENDED SUGGESTION. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME, OR MONEY!
I was very nervous after reading all of the negative reviews on here. I am glad we went despite them. The kids had a blast! Water was perfect-plenty to do- staff was freindly. I will definitely go again
We were a group of 7 and purchased tickets and visited on 1/24/2015 (so roughly spent $105) and came to find out as we entered that the water heater for the lazy river, hot tub and the large play island was broken....the staff knew this but didn't tell anyone or post a sign as you paid on the way in. Imagine swimming in January without a water heater! We spent about 30 minutes and left....worst $100 ever spent. The maintenance guy came and took the temp of the lazy river when we were standing there....62 degrees! The management gave us vouches when we asked why they didn't disclose info when we purchased tickets. We turned them down...even with free tickets the place is disgusting...bathrooms are nasty and only had one functioning toilet room door in the ladies. The pool that was heated had the water proofing membrane picked to pieces leaving the edges of the pool foam exposed for little kids to pick at. I wished I would have taken pics to post so that no one else wastes their money. You couldn't even pay me to go back there....
Check in was unorganized & took 2 hours but it was new years eve & they were understaffed. If you are expecting 5 star service & hotel stay away. Everything was clean but outdated. The staff was friendly but slow to respond. I had fun but more importantly my son had a blast! I would go again. But this hotel is only for the laid back & patient. It is a great value & you will have fun if you are relaxed.
If you live near Rockford & want something to do it's ok. Using the word "resort" is laughable. I certainly wouldn't drive hours to go here. Probably the best time to go is in the summer when everyone else is @ Magic Waters. We've been here 3x and that's enough for me. 1st visit (maybe a year after it opened) some kiddie water slides were physically broken or not working & the netting that kids crawl across was torn & frayed in @ least 1 layer. Lifeguards @ that time seemed young & pretty much interested in chatting & flirting w/1 another.2nd visit last year, same thing with the lifeguards as the 1st time. Not a huge deal for me because I actually watch my kid, unlike more than 1/2 the stellar parents there! 2nd time I used the locker rooms and shower. Disgusting.... moldy & broken. We heard they were shutting down for a few months to address the problems. 3rd visit, today. Since they've changed their hours to only 3 days a week, we decided to go on the day it's open the longest. Maybe that was our mistake. Too crowded for the space. Every locker was already taken & we got there 2 hours after it opened. Hard to find a place to put your things when so crowded and no lockers, luckily we found 2 chairs. The gangbangers played nice & overall most people were polite. No place to change in the locker rooms, too crowded. Had to use a bathroom stall. Peeked in the shower area & it did look better than last time. Here's my gripe....not once but TWICE someone vomited, YES VOMITED, IN THE POOL!! Freaking nasty. The staff then has to close off everything( for an hour), but the itty bitty kiddie pool. Parents if you're kid weighs more than 75 lbs YOU should parent and tell them not to be in the pool that's probably meant for kids 6 & under!! Omg that poor lifeguard!! Not once did any other lifeguards come over and help him when literally every person in the place tried to go in this area meant for little kids. I even told another lifeguard he needed help & nothing. Ridiculous. This time the lifeguards were more attentive, but mainly for running. Except the kiddie pool guy, he should get a medal for having to put up with that crap! When asked how much longer we had to wait, just expect the standard answerof 45 minutes no matter when you ask. No 1 will offer to compensate you in any way for the inconvenience. So don't expect it even if you ask politely. Hello management, a free drink or slice of pizza is @ least something! In between barfs I went to the food area once the crowd cleared out of there. Ordered a pretzel and fries. I got the last pretzel & was told they were out of fries. Mind you they still had over 6 hours til closing. I asked if I could get a slice of pizza & was told no they only sell it by the whole pizza ($7 cheese). Watch where you step because of the pigs who drop food & who knows what on the ground & no one cleans it up.Lastly there was also another pool area that was drained and obviously closed for some reason. After 4 1/2 hours (almost 2hrs of which the areas were closed) I couldn't have been happier when my 5 yr old said he had had enough!Sidenote to parents: It is your job to watch YOUR kids. Lifeguards are there for emergencies and to enforce the rules. As a parent I am appalled at the lack of even mediocre parenting here & at other kid/family friendly establishments.
I have visited this resort on many occasions. when they first opened, it was very nice and clean. This last year has been a total change. Every time I take my daughter there, they are closed for some sort of issue with the water, the locker rooms are disgusting (diapers and dirty underwear on the floor, either no water pressure or no hot water in the showers, swimsuit dryer broken, no towels) horrible customer service! They gave me passes to use on another day because of water problems and now they won't even honor them because supposedly they had a lot stolen...I will NEVER waste my time or money going into this establishment again!
The waterpark air temperature was cold, the water was cold and full of people you'd cross the street to avoid. Only went once and we'd booked 3 nights at the associated clocktower hotel which was also terrible but like many others we had to retreat to its filthy pool area (it was at least very warm) to swim in warm water without being overrun by the less desirables and their unsupervised children. The clocktower wanted extra for everything inc fridge (really, it's supposed to be a family resort with babies and toddlers) and again the pool area was dirty and dangerous. Filthy scum line around the pool, broken pool ladders which hurt my 3 yr old, never any pool towels, All reported and nothing done) and overwhelmed staff who i suspect are victims of management cutting things to the bone. Car park was iced over for the entire time which made getting to and from the car with a 3yr old quite dangerous. Just pay more and go somewhere else. That's advice I ignored before booking so don't make the same mistake i did.
First off, I have noticed that after reading reviews of the WATER PARK, i felt skeptical. I also had noticed that so many people have wrote terrible reviews for hotel service and not reviews for the water park. Let me get this clear to people, DO NOT MAKE REVIEWS FOR THE HOTEL, THIS IS THE WATER PARK, NOT THE HOTEL!! And yes, the water in the park is a bit cloudy and murky, I had talked to the GM and he had said that they have made progress since he has joined, and he is talking to the owner to help get new lights, fix air vents, and get better cleaning supplies. So give is some time and hopefully it will get better.
I attempted to call and email for several days in an attempt to schedule a large family party (40 people) and when the Sales Manager finally returned my call he acted extremely inconvenienced by having to answer any of my questions. When I asked if they offer any discounts for such a large group he acted like I was asking for him to donate an organ! He called me back to offer me a $1.00 off per person and then said I would need to rent a meeting room for an extra $100 per hour!!! How is that a savings? I will never attempt to plan anything here again! There are too many other places willing to work with a larger group!
