We liked the extremely friendly atmosphere! The rainbow flag announces a gay location,... We felt at home straight away! Ooops: did I say "straight"? Well, this is one of those places that makes you regret the fact that you were not born over there!
Most of the beach along South Beach is similar. Wide, clean sand and water, great people watching. At 12th Street Beach, the twist is that the clientele is mostly gay. The flags fly proudly. The bodies are oiled beautifully. The attitude may be off-putting but the eye candy is phenomenal.
On my recent visit to 12th street beach, Lisa the young lady in the concessions was friendly and very accommodating. offering a large assortment of goodies and beverages perfect for an impromptu visit to the beach. The beach attendant Charlie was very friendly and consistently checked in to see if anything was needed. All this for a day at the beach! Great service highly recommend this beach just for the service of Lisa and Charlie.
The 12th street beach has parking, if you get there before 9:30 am on a week day. The sand is clean, as well as the facilities and shower areas. They have life guards, it is busy but not crowed until the weekends.
Sand and Sun.. what more do you need. Beautiful! There is a play park for kids and a volleyball area. One bad thing, so many homeless people. I wasn't really concerned about safety, according to one of the waitresses, they just might be drunk.
Hot bodies everywhere i looked, great bars near by, it was simply an amazing experience. I recomment taking in the drag show at Palace which is right there.
Get a chair, an umbrella and spend the day with some the best views to be had in SoBe. The location is great and easy access to all of South Beach.
Bring the kids to play at the playground, work out playing volleyball or using the pull up bars, or just sit on the benches under the swaying palms and people watch. It's a fun place to be!
I loved this beach. It's huge, it's clean, it's not a long walk to the water, and it's beautiful. We rented beach chairs which were $20 each so we didn't get the little tent thing (what do they call those?) for another $25 because, come on, it's getting ridiculous to spend $65 to lie in the sun for a few hours. But other than that, it's heaven. After wards we went to the Pinkberry across Ocean Ave.
The beach is mentioned on a number of marker boards as though you are going to see something of real interest - but in all honesty it is just 'another beach' .. although they are all very clean and tidy
