This is a very, very nice public park right in the heart of South Fort Myers. This is a well-planned public facility that will appeal to exercise enthusiasts (cycling and jogging through out, with exercise stations), families with children (mini-railroad and water sprinkler area), nature lovers (abundant wildlife throughout) and folks that just want to walk and talk in a pleasing environment.Parking is not free, but it is affordable at $1 per hour.Concessions of all types are available from snacks and beverages, to rental boats and bikes.Looks like to could get very, very busy on weekends and holidays.
Just found this place a few weeks ago. Attended a charity fundraiser 5K walk/race (I walked). It was a nice way to tour the entire park and I must say the atmosphere is quite relaxing and scenic, even as I was puffing along...There are picnic pavilions with grills along the lakes, the larger ones can be reserved. A number of water features, walking trails, bikes, pedal driven trolley cars, paddle boats, food concessions around nearly every corner. A miniature train ( that wasn't running the day we were there, may be a seasonal thing) has track throughout the park. The only indication that we were nearly downtown was the condo towering over one end of the park. I was surprised at the absence of traffic noise considering how close we were to a major intersection on a large highway...We thoroughly enjoyed the day and plan to return soon...
My husband and I had a few hours to kill before catching a plane out of Fort Myers and stumbled upon this great little park. There were bike rentals, walking paths, botanical gardens and several things for kids to do including a small train. Really a wonderful find.
This is our favorite go-to park with our young grandkids. It has everything - several play areas, a water park suitable for tots, fishing, various boat and bike rentals, walking trails, snack bar and ice cream stand, a miniature train ride, a train museum and a wonderful train-themed playground. The fee for parking is $2.00 per hour. The train ride is extra but reasonable and quite charming. On Fridays, there is a farmer's market that is well-attended. Picnic tables and covered picnic areas are available for celebrations and very popular on weekends for birthday parties.
safe biking trails through a beautiful, beautifully -landscaped regional park--botanical gardens well developed--hands-on growing gardens available--volunteer opportunities available--great place to take kids--mini-train through the park for the little ones--shower parks for the kids are wonderfully designed--kayaking, canoeing, pedal-buggies, bicycles available as rentals--picnic areas, grills available--my favorite is the farmers market every friday from 8 am to 1 pm--fresh veggies, flowers, foods, crafts, etc--always well visited!
Great Park. Nice to walk or bike on the trails. Lots of wild life,RR to ride, museum rent a boat etc.
Rode bikes around...thoroughly enjoyable ride.Took great nieces/nephews there. They had a blast on the play ground, water playground, train ride.... great place for the kids.
Loved the park walk. Saw alligator and many birds on my walk. Loved the new exercise signage and workout places. Great idea! Have been many times and enjoy Lakes Park!
Nice park, there are plenty of paved walking/riding trails. Nice area for kids with the train and playground. Not much shade, go early or later in the day when it's not so hot.
What a great park...and right in the city of Fort Myers! A natural setting kept beautiful just so that you don't have to go far to enjoy Florida's unique nature. Runners, walkers, bikers, people in rented water transports all enjoy the trails and scenery. Bring a picnic dinner and watch the sun set over the park...we did!
