I absolutely love attending shows at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre. We recently attended Men of Motown and it did not disappoint. It was a joy to hear all of the Motown favorites. Before the show, we had dinner next door - in the Marietta Square. It was a fantastic evening. If you're looking to do something special with your loved ones, check out the Strand and don't forget to include dinner in your plans. As a bonus, you can park in the garage across the street at no charge after business hours. The Strand is a special gem!
After years of sitting vacant, it's nice to see the Strand Theatre as a vibrant anchor on the Marietta Square. The rooftop deck gives a nice vantage point overlooking the Square. The theatre itself is beautiful with great movies and live performances, and the other event rooms make it a perfect venue for any occasion.
A spectacular venue for an unforgettable night. My family and I went to see the comedy 'sunshine boys'. From the moment we walked into this gem we were greeted by sweet smells of next door, the overflowing popcorn, and the most polite staff of young and old multi ethnic helpers. The show was nonstop laughs, gut busting Van Pearlberg stole the show. Along with Joe Arnotti who my family loves and we have seen him in multiple productions around atlanta.Go to this theater, see their shows. You won't regret it.
I love the location, interior, exterior of the Earl Smith Strand Theatre in Marietta... it makes you feel like you are back in the good old days!!! Most of the people from the good old days will be sitting next to you!!!!!!This theatre caters to the +60 crowd who want a taste of the past. Unfortunatley for everyone else don't expect to see any music, plays, movies or comedians who are not born after 1960. The Strand's economic base will soon go away..... leaving it with no one else to relive thier "Good Old Days" because there was never anything for them to go see unless it was with old Aunt Gladdis.
The Strand Theater is a true landmark! Everything about it makes you want to visit over, and over, again. I am excited about their Christmas Special Musical starting soon.
You can go to this theater for any production and come away happy! Good value for the money too! The quality of the actors is top notch. They also host special events which is a plus for the Square.
Wonderfully remodeled theatre just like it originally was in the 30's or 40's when it was a movie theatre. We have attended a variety of venues there and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We have attended musicals, plays, music concerts and 1920's silent film. All seats are good seats. Upstairs we have attended receptions. The rooftop patio and bar has music sometimes and is an outstanding view of the city of Marietta and Kennesaw Mountain.
Great intimate local theatre experience for a night out with friends. Good ambience, friendly staff.
Took my girls to a tea party where there was no host. We stood for 10 minutes before seating ourselves. When finally someone came in I asked why we hadn't been served after 25 minutes and was told 'they weren't expecting so many people and did not have enough settings or food and were trying to get in touch with the caterer.'Very dissapointing.
We've enjoyed A+ jazz concerts, theatre organ presentations (4-manual organ kind), drama, musicals, stage shows - you name it. The interior, an early 20th century movie theatre, is magnificently restored. Upstairs is a wonderful reception room for cocktails and other parties. Up on the 4th floor is an open air bar and music area: Brew with a View. Great for star watching and "vegging out."
