We spent two nights here in one of the cabins. Ours, in fact, Cabin 208, was tiny but just perfect for Peggy and me. The main lodge has several rooms with shared baths; we preferred to pay a little more to have the privacy. Tamarack is a beautiful place, here since 1928, on the edge of a lovely lake literally at the foot of the mountain. We have skied cross-country here before, and the trails are well-kept. The main lobby of the lodge has a huge fireplace. They have a Continental breakfast for guests. We really enjoyed our stay.
Perfectly groomed, extremely nice and helpful staff that works there because they love cross country skiing! The lakes basin is particularly beautiful in the winter and I feel so lucky to be up there every time I go!
we rented cross-country skis here and tried it out for the first time. We were complete beginners but they have trails that are perfect for learning and the scenery is spectacular. It cost about $55ish for each adult for skis, boots & poles and a nature trail pass during the high holiday season. It was too crowded, the snow in December 2012 was great so it made learning fun. I would recommend trying this for all age groups it's not to strenous and a gentle but good aerobic workout. We will definitely be back and explore more of their trails.
A bit crowded and the parking lot is ramshackle but the skiing is beautiful. The seasonal lodge offers rentals
So amazing - great place to hike, snowshoe, cross country. Adults and kids can all enjoy. Little lodge and restaurant delish!
This was my first visit to Tamarack and I will definitely be going back. The views are beautiful, the trails are nicely groomed, there are many trails to choose from, the rental equipment is great and the staff is very friendly. My only (slight) complaint is that I find it a little bit expensive (~$25 per day for a trail pass and ~$30 per day for rentals) - at this price I feel like I need to ski all day to get my money's worth!
First off, cheers to Jessica who was ever so patient and cool answering all of my boyfriend's questions, who always has millions to ask. Thanks for shuttling us to and back, so we didn't have to walk with our skis. And thanks for giving us some pointers when we encountered you out on the trails. Cheers cheers and cheers. This was a first for us. We both enjoy hiking, so we were like why not try cross country skiing. It's like hiking, but on skis. It was amazing. The snow conditions were a little iffy when we first arrived, but as we got further in it was beautiful. It was very serene and everything that we had wanted. We'll be back most definitely.
they are extremely helpful and instructional if you are not savvy into cross country skiing. The Restraunt they have there is Delicious!....The whole atmosphere and surroundings are absolutely perfect. wonderful escape!
Tamarack is a beautiful place that we have enjoyed on several occasions but always in the summer or fall. We decided to try a winter trip for a change and the highlight was a day of Cross Country skiing. We booked the all-inclusive lesson, day pass and rental gear. The gear was in great shape and our instructor Amy was wonderful. We booked a group lesson for Myself, my wife and two teenage kids. In a short while we were all doing well and were accomplished enough to take one of the longer trails up to Lake Mary. The trails are well groomed and the scenery is fantastic. Well worth the money. Special thanks to Amy and request her for a lesson.
Had a great time going cross-country skiing with my kids during our last stay. The gear seemed really new and clean, and the scenery couldn't be beat. Makes me wonder why we don't all live in Mammoth!
