Lindos vitrais.
This church is named after the first Bischop of Münster, Lambertus.Like all other churches, it was almost wholly destroyed during the bombing campaign at the end of WW II, and rebuild from scratch.During this bombing both arms of the Jezus figure on the cross were lost, a splinter of a bomb pierced the chest of Jezus where his heart would be, this damaged figure of Jezus now adorns a new wooden cross with the text "the only hands I have are yours", quite a story, even for a non believer like me.The modern church is still quite beautiful.
This is my favourite church/cathedral in Münster. You can read the history about the spires in other reviews - but this gives it a chilling quality and I love just looking at t during a stroll through the city at night. If you hear the night watchman blowing his horn (or know it is a her I think!) this adds to the atmosphere! Beautiful stained glass windows and organ inside - each church in the city is worth visiting inside because even though there are so many they each have their own unique feeling and characteristics. Look for the statutes of Goethe and Schiller above the closed portal on the outside! You can see replicas of the cages in the Stadtmuseum and learn more about the history there!
Beautiful structure positioned on a square in the main centre. Great spire to photograph. A must see.
Not only a fine church but the cages in which the Anabaptists were hung can be seen clearly hanging from the spire.(though the original are in the museum).A beautiful atmosphere inside.
