Built in 1886. Beautiful wooden staircase to the dome, but they recently closed the dome for the public.
Texas has many beautiful courthouses. This is one to see. A quiet little county courthouse with an interesting group of stairs to the steeple.Be careful! Very difficult to come down due to design.
This is a step back in time, especially when you take a seat in the second floor court room. You can just imagine a rustler being sentenced to a hanging back in the old west days. The view from the top floor (4th) gives you some pretty good site lines of the town. The hall ways and stair cases add to the old west flavor.And... the old jail and water tower are just across the street.
This 1880's county courthouse was a complete surprise. A short block from the Hotel Paisano on Highland Street, this beautiful pink granite, three story structure makes it's presence felt immediately. The courthouse was open so we went in and walked around the main floor admiring the well maintained wooden staircase that rose toward the dome. Presidio County Courthouse is a real eye-catcher and worth a visit if you're in the area.
Court house anchors the only version of downtown. Worth a cruise by not really worth going in side. Typical Texas court house nicely kept up.
Open M-F only worth a look if it is open. The courtroom is open and the steps upstairs provides a fun photo opportunity
i have much enjoyed my recent months to help keep this building clean and safely maintained. With most of my life doing custodial work this now is the peak of my odd jobs around town. As a 'social scientist, historian, and all around colorfull character using a bike and cargo trailer to do my dozen clients in Marfa i get the opertunity to talk to visitors when asked for information . But sadly was reminded that maybe i shud direct any inquires to the towns visitor center for answers. Any i hope to Do Gud Deed's and continue to help when asked. We have allot to offer and hope all visitors can leave with a great sense of contentment if not satisfaction. So , Enjoy...
Beautiful interior that is mostly unchanged from when it was first built. Beautiful woodwork. The courtroom is stunning.
Wonderful place on a quiet square in the center of town. Take the time to visit. The most interesting thing in town.
I have traveled all over the state of Texas, photographing old courthouses, and this is one of the good ones. It is a pink granite and is unlike many of the other old buildings.
