We were looking for horse back riding while in San Antonio so I contacted our hotel and they gave me the number for this ride. Kathy was great she booked us over the phone and sent a text with directions. The horses were great and the trail was beauitful. Kathy picks out the horses ahead of time for your experience. I will call her again when I am in San Antonio for sure!!
My wife and I just finished a two hour trail ride with Kathy (the owner) at Canyon Lake. We had a really great time. The horses were friendly and Kathy was very easy to talk with and ask questions. There were three other people on our ride. We all had a great time with the horses. We rode a full two hours along the lake shoreline and interior places. We stopped every 30 minutes or so to let our horses get a drink from the lake and eat grass, etc. The terrain was mostly flat but did have a few ditches where the horses needed to pick up some speed to make it through, which was fun. Overall, we had a wonderful time on the ride and would highly recommend this company to others. We plan to do it again on our next visit to Gruene, TX.
My daughter and I (9Yrs old) met Kathy at her house and she offered to drive us up to Canyon Lake. She allowed us to help saddle and load the horses, which thrilled my daughter. Kathy is great at giving instruction. Very patient and a natural teacher, Which made the ride so much fun and a great learning experience. We felt like we'd known Kathy for years. The best ride we've had together. My daughter still asks when we're going back. I highly recommend!
My wife and I arranged to ride the Old Hancock Trail at Canyon Lake with Kathy -- two hours of trail riding not far from our vacation rental in New Braunfels. My wife is a far more experienced rider than me, and Kathy did a great job of matching us to her horses. The trail lies along the shores of Canyon Lake (reservoir). Very scenic with birds and wildlife in abundance.Kathy is so outgoing and so knowledgeable about the area that it seemed like we were riding with an old friend for the afternoon. A most enjoyable time! I know that we will be riding again with Kathy during our future visits to the area, and I highly recommend the experience to others.
Kathy did a wonderful job! She was completely capable of handling all the horses with three inexperienced riders, two of which were 10yo girls. I could tell she LOVES her animals! The trail is lovely with lots to see! We took the horses in the water and even stopped to pick wild flowers! It was def worth the money! We WILL be using her again!!!! Thanks Kathy!
We went on the Canyon Lake ride for the second time today with Mike as our guide. I cannot express in words the sheer joy we experience with this company. They choose the horse best suited for your experience level and size. They also make every rider, regardless of experience level, feel comfortable. They don't talk down to anyone, have enormous patience, and ensure that everyone has an awesome time. The horses are spirited and very funny as they interact with each other on the ride. The scenery, Mike's jokes, and family togetherness all make for an experience we will never forget. If your family seems to be going in every direction but together, go on a ride with Mike. Your family will leave closer than ever. We absolutely love this company!
I am from Houston, Texas. My boyfriend and I planned a trip to Texas Trailriding co for my Birthday, Sunday March 24. We stayed at a B&B in New Braunfels (Acorn Hill B&B). I was very excited to take the horseride as it would be my first time. I was taking a lot of pictures and my phone battery ran very low. We had gotten halfway there and the phone just died. We ended up having to turn around and go back to the Acorn Hill and get my charger and charge the phone. I called Texas Trailriding co and spoke with a lady and told her of the situation. She acted like I had committed a crime and was not accommodating at all even with me asking for different options. She basically dismissed me off the phone and kept my deposit! I would NEVER go back her nor suggest anyone go there...especially if you are going to run late for any reason. I was 15 minutes late, from a different city and she could not even accommodate me! That is in a word...RIDICULOUS!!!!!
This what happens when one rider wont listen to the guide and makes a horse continue to break away from the group and run ahead. It upsets the whole group of horses. When we have beginners and one person that thinks they are experienced they dont listen. For the safety of the group I made a rider switch with me. The friends with me happened to be my son and daughter inlaw. My son had just come of of deployment and I hadnt seen him in a year. He came with us so we could spend time together. I give thanks to the many many customers that have helped our company grow. God Bless. Kathy White
I took my 13 yr old daughter and my mother-in-law on a ride in Canyon Lake. My daughter was very nervous so the guides walked her horse and kept her with them during the ride while allowing a bit more freedom for those of us who had some riding experience. We had a great time and can't wait to go back. I hear the longer ride in Bastrop is even more fun. The horses were great...the right spunk for the right rider. Not your typical nose to tail trail ride. Planning to return soon.
As a business owner I dont ever want to tell people we wont take less than 3 people on a ride but we are the only company that hauls to the locations to take groups on these rides. When the person wrote this review she doesnt consider the cost and time to get these horses to the trail. It takes an hour just for us to get there. Usually when u book these rides you show up at a ranch where the horses have been saddled all day and you ride. We dont do that. All of the trails we ride on require us to haul and because of that we haved to have a minimum of 3. On the flip side the quality of the trails are spectacular. We often join 2 groups together and alleviate this problem.I remember this caller and I tried to explain this to her but she got madder and madder that I woudnt bend. I hope this helps to explain why we cant Many thanks to all of the customers that have supported us thru the years. Kathy White
