On Monday this week we spent the day with Captain Jack - starting at the tip of Pine Island FLWe saw several dolphins initially, however, they were more interested in feeding than playing in the wake of the boat. Headed toward Cabbage Key - Captain Jack provided information on the area, the islands we were passing - and answered questions. Had lunch at Cabbage Key and wandered about some - climbed water tower - followed gopher tortoise and were provided with more information on the area from the captain. Headed to Cayo Costa State Park - rode tram to the beach - and spent a very pleasant hour swimming and walking the beach. Wandered thru the museum which was very interesting to all - especially the ten and eight year old. Headed back - again attempting to encourage the dolphins to follow in the wake - saw several, however, still too busy feeding. All in all a very beautiful day - informative, saw a beautiful part of florida islands and enjoyed a great beach.
Captain Jack was lovely. He knew so much! The boat was top notch; very quiet. Pine Island was prentice.
Captain Jack was a delightful guide, well versed in the biology of the locale. He was engaging and is clearly committed to preserving the wildlife of the area. The perfect activity for anyone visiting the area. Highly recommended.
A few weeks ago, my daughter and her family were down visiting us during the kids' midwinter school break. I had called Captain Jack back in January to arrange for a boat tour that would include a little fishing for my grandsons, ages 12 and 9, and some nature watching for all of us. He said his Outer Islands Tour would fit the bill and boy, was he right. We set off from Bokeelia in his spacious catamaran which accommodated the six of us quite comfortably. He stopped at a good fishing spot and the boys promptly landed a snapper and a sea trout. We then set off for Cabbage Island and had a wonderful treat on the way there. A pod of dolphins, up to seven at one time, followed us and entertained us with a show of flips and jumps in our wake. We were mesmerized for half an hour and loved every minute of their show. We arrived a little late for our lunch at Cabbage Island Inn and had to wait for a table but the boys were kept busy watching a couple of gopher turtles wrestle/fight and climbing the tower for a great view of the island and water. The lunch was nothing special and the gift shop catered to adults (no dinosaurs) but soon we were on our way to another fishing spot. Another snapper was caught and we now had enough for at least a taste of fresh fish for our dinner. We next sailed to Cayo Costa, a state park that has a beautiful, pristine beach. We prowled the beach for shark's teeth and watched the boys play in the surf. After an hour, we boarded the trolley and headed back to our boat and the ride back to the marina.Captain Jack is wonderful, so friendly and accommodating. He is also a skilled seaman. He gave us a smooth ride even though the Gulf was pretty choppy that day. We all had the best time and couldn't have asked for more. Captain Jack even cleaned our fish for us! We plan to book the tour again when our other daughter and her family come down. We loved this tour!
My wife and I went out with Captain Cathy. We wanted to see dolphins and then go to lunch on one of the islands. We saw lots and lots of dolphins. Captain Cathy would speed up the boat and the dolphins played in the wake. They were close and would jump out of the water. We had a wonderful lunch sitting out on the patio on an island. Great view and great food.Go out with Captain Cathy, you'll have a great day.
We went on the dolphin trip while visiting Cape Coral, and our family saw at least 30 dolphins, including babies. They were jumping and playing around the boat all afternoon. Captain Jack was patient with the kids and it was so educational. The stop at Cabbage Key with the turtles was icing on the cake. This made the vacation and is something our girls (7, 10 and 18) will never forget.
Outstanding tour provided by Captain Eagle! Very educational and very fun. With a gentle invite from our captain, the Dolphins were nearly jumping in the boat! Highly recommend taking a tour with Captain Cathy!! Super value. Thank you from the Coffman/Wise charter
My husband and I took 3 young adults in Captain Cathy's boat. We saw dolphin and manatee and numerous types of birds. We also had lunch in Cabbage Key where you can see otter and turtles. Captain Cathy is very knowledgeable and gives an interesting narrative as she navigates the waters. The Dolphins seem to know and love her. People of any age would love this tour. On a separate occasion we took my 91 year old father and he loved it as well. Captain Cathy changes her narrative to appeal to the participants. I highly recommend Captain Jack's Tours.
Our group of three adults and three kids were lucky enough to see at least 30 dolphins (babies too!). It is luck because the week before, others of our group saw only 3. But Capt. Jack really, really tries to give his groups the ultimate dolphin viewing experience. He has remarkable respect for the animals, and makes the trip fun and interesting! Very personable captain and wonderful trip!
Captain Jack was narrative, knowledgable and entertaining! He shared and educated us regarding history, palms, birds, etc. highly recommend!! Will go again next February.
