http://www.wir-rheinlaender.lvr.deThis part of the open air museum is housed in the exhibiotion halls of the "Museumsplatz ausstellungen" and ist that great that we would like to visit again and again. Vivid real life size wax figurines which seem to come to life. The exhibition "wirrheinländer" creates an identity for a better understanding of their origins and teaches Rhenish population more familiar. It presents the history of the Rhineland as a andscape, takes one through the “French period” until anno 1850. Via a meandering path one walks through a small town of nine theme-complexes with 50 scenes, one can peek through Windows with 150 years of Rhenish history. Its buildings are derived from models of Rhenish cities with their periodic interiors. The scenes are populated with figurines in historical costumes which bear witness to past and transience. In addition to the scenic performances are rooms with showcases, computers and text panels with in-depth information about its scenes to aim an involvement with the lower Rhine history.

A good interesting place to visit. Lots to see and lovely walks and not too busy or expensive. Good for adults and children
The museum is a nice venue for the whole family. As it is open air a visit is most enjoyable whe it does not rain a lot. Most of the exhibits are original old wooden buildings from different places in the Rhineland. They have been disassembled at their original places, transported to the museum site and re-assembled. You really get the feeling how everyday living must have been back in the good old times, since also the interior is decorated with original equipment from e.g. the 18th century. Some of the buildings are also in use. Especially seeing the old windmills in action is an incredible experience. There is also in indoor exhibition about the Rhineland. You walk through a typical Rhenish town with all such things as offices, a wedding place, pubs, etc. The places are decorated with figures that look very real and are dressed with historical clothing. There are several picknick sites as well as some restaurants. This place is definetively worth a visit and a great experience especially for children.
Everything is very interesting and the houses are really in a fantastic view. Low cost entry and a good shop for local things.
This is a wonderful place to visit. Houses from the Rhineland have been rebuilt in a fantastic setting, including an indoor Museum. Lots of hands on activities for children especially in the school holidays between July and September. We live close by and never get tired of visiting.
