It was a beautiful town to take the rail up, walk around, have a bear and listen to music. Perfect ending to a nice evening.
After using the funicolare cablecar to reach Montecatini alto, we had a little wander around with a few other members of our National Holidays coach tour. It was a very nice village with a beautiful centre which included a gathering of restaurants, a war memorial and a gift shop. We ventured further on into the village to discover a church which was very nicely detailed within;slightly further up from the church, we discovered a strange monument type thing to from what I could gather ( a field gun and fire-fighting equipment) to be a monument to the saint of the aforementioned things. There was also a fort type thing, which was unfortunately not open. We did not have time to explore the other side of town, but did find a place to stare out at the beautiful panoramic sunset. The view was astounding and allowed you to see for miles into the distance. The village is well worth a visit!
Beautiful simplistic place with fantastic views and nice restaurants! A must! It is easy to get a bus there and back!
If you're blessed with a clear day, take your car (or the funicolare if it's running), and go to Montecatini Alto. Eat outside near the tower, explore on foot, and don't miss the wonderful ceramics shop.
We went off season...much of the town closed. It is historical however with lovely views! We walked beautiful old streets with buildings going back hundreds of years. We really enjoyed the beautiful architecture.
MonteCatini Alto was beautiful. The view of the countryside was beautiful and the town was vey quaint. Visit the old churches, enjoy gelato and pizza, have a fine glass of wine and people watch. The prices were very reasonable. Make sue you can walk uphill because the town is on the side of a hill!!
Could stay there and eat forever so much choice beautiful surroundings and friendly staff great atmosphere and typical Italian surroundings we loved it there
Typical Tuscan village of "hill". Small, pretty, neat, with a great view on a clear day.Be sure to see "presepe" in church
Montecatini Alto looks like a small medieval Italian village. Very nice, neat with excellent views. The scenery around is superb. It was really nice to walk there and then sit in a small restaurant with breathtaking view.
Quaint, Charming and a beautiful ambiance......a must for lunch and souvenir's!! The views of the surrounding countryside are truly awesome, the locals are fantastically friendly!!
