Surprising performance of "Our Town" highlights the three day conference for colleagues and me. This architectural gem hosts cultural venue for Art Deco fashion, Art Deco Building designs by students and paper mach animals creating a pathway to travel before sitting down for a wonderful Thornton Wilder play.
It's a well maintained structure.. Andrew who built this had some vision and when u r inside you can feel the history and the people who may have moved in the corridors..
beautiful theater - not a bad seat in the house that I could find. I look forward to attending more plays.
Pleasing to the eye and the acoustics are great - There isn't a bad seat in the house.
We just got done watching the performance of Willy Wonka. Exceptional! My husband, myself, and parents attend at least one play a year here, and sometimes we bring our children, as we did tonight. The kids loved it, and stayed focused. I am amazed, every single time, how they can find such talent!!! The building is beautiful, full of history, and everything is top notch- from the performers to the props. They always have homemade bars, punch, lemonade, and coffee for only .50 each at intermission, which is a wonderful addition. My family would highly recommend anyone coming here!!!
This beautiful theater is located in the downtown area, which is also a shopping and restaurant district with very friendly and helpful merchants, and located just on the northern edge of the University of Wisconsin (Stout). The theater has main floor and balcony seating, although there are not an abundance of seats, I'm estimating perhaps150-180 seats. The wood seats have cushions and the woodwork throughout is all hand stenciled. Unfortunately, tours are not available at this point in time, so the only way to enjoy this world rated theater is to attend an event here, which are very reasonably priced.
Step back into the time of the Wisconsin lumber barons as the Theater was built in 1889.We enjoyed the Gershwin matinee performance with some terrific local talent from this college town.
We are season ticket holders for the plays that are performed at the Mabel Tainter. We highly recommend the Mable Tainter experience.
Saw Boiled in Lead concert. Enjoyed the beautiful historic theater, good acoustics and a nice adult beverage on the break. Hubby and I look forward to visiting again!
I have worked behind the scenes at this historic theatre and never really knew much about it until I did. I have worked 4 performances there and being able to go behind the scenes is a wonderful experience. The backstage is very small but we made it work. One performance had over 40 participants and another had 30 with LOTS of props. The timing for that one had to be perfect but it all worked out just fine. Ask someone to tell you about the 'ghosts' in the building. At the last play I worked at, the ghost was definetely there, costumes kept disappearing and being moved. It's all in what you want to believe. Awesome theatre to watch wonderfully produced plays.
