Lots of trails to wander on, a few old style buildings etc to see and of course plenty of wildlife. The center is really good and educational for the kids, go to the bird viewing area, when we were there is was packed. A huge turkey came in for 15 mins....
My family and I really enjoyed the Nature Center and all the daily activities they had available. We didn't venture out on the trails but it was still a good time nonetheless.
I have had "knee issues," but I often used to run the long trail around the Nature Center, enjoying its beauty, variety, and peace. Occasionally I would see deer, wild turkeys, rabbits, a turtle sunning on a log in the river. Though the running days may be over, the trail is still a wonderful walk.
This place is amazing - they offer something for everyone year round - some of the things I have done with them is kayaking; night time walks; Easter egg hunts; pancake breakfast with local maple syrup - they offer many outdoor programs for all ages - wonderful family adventure
I like to ride my bike to chippewa nature center. The river is so pure. I also enjoy walking inside the nature center and being surrounded by the big trees.
Lovely setting with lots of trails and benches just when you need one to sit and watch the river roll by. The area's history is very well done in the main building and their are naturalists there to answer any of your questions. The office staff is very helpful and very friendly and give you a lot of their time. You never get a brief, "don't bother me I am busy" kind of answer to any of your questions. On weekends the homestead and school house are usually open and staffed and you and your kids can get a lesson in the old one room, log school and walk down the lane to the homestead and see how people lived and how they worked and entertained themselves with no electronics! The Nature Center offers Day Camp for the kids in the summer months and the price is very good and the instructors are great. The Nature Center offers a nature nursery school. They offer a program during the fall and make Maple syrup that is for sale.Really a gen for the Midland county area. Schools make good use of it and have many programs for the school age children.
Nice, paved, quiet bike trail. Helpful maintenance man who directed us to the maintenance shed so we could put air in our bike tires! Thank you!
A heated water feature was added to the feeding area which is viewed from inside the Visitors Center. Birds and small mammals can be seen and photographed. Varieties recently seen there are listed. Also, varieties seen elsewhere on the Nature Center property are listed at the front desk. The indoor viewing area is reached by walking throgh an area of educational exhibits.Another indoor area offers river views, and a spotting scope is there. There are extensive trails.Admission is free, but donations are accepted. Memberships are available.
This is a great place to explore and spend an afternoon with the family. Lots to do like nature walks etc. all year round :)
The Chippewa center and the trails leading to it are so beautiful. Don't make the trip to Midland and miss this great experience b
