My wife is a beginner who loves shallow, calm water where she can stand up without worrying about urchins or stingrays. I am a little more advanced and like the waves. We both love kiting where there are no crowds, but enough supervision and help if we need it. Kite Buen Hombre was a welcome breath of fresh air after spending two months in Cabarete, which was very crowded, too many yahoos crashing kites on the beach, and challenging surf for my wife. Riin and Miky are awesome! Miky is one of the best kiters I have ever met, and a great instructor. We did the most awesome 12K downwinder EVER from a tiny island for a very reasonable cost. When my kite unexpectedly deflated a mile offshore, there was an instructor there to swap out my kite within one minute--I didn't even skip a beat. Service with a smile. These guys do it for the love of kiting, not just a quick buck, which is something you don't often find these days. If you are coming to the D.R. for great kiting, you need to talk to these guys first. They have schools both in Buen Hombre and Cabarete. Feel free to message me for more info--I'm happy to share my experience with you and promote a business I believe in. Even though we are locked into a rental in Cabarete, we are going back next week! :) ---Greg
This was an amazing location so remote an far away . The water is crystal clear with a colorful reef ! Butter flat and waves on the reef! Buen Hombre is a place that you can escape and be free . So close to Haiti and surrounded by mountains ! We had a sick session and then sat down at a table and had a fantastic dinner that the local fisher man catch daily on the reef ! I was there for one day and two weeks later it still feels like a dream . And buen hombre is great for kiters of all skill levels especially beginners with shallow water for miles! I will defently be returning with new people to inspire !!Big Thanks to Riin &Miky See you guys soon!!!
Kiting in Buen Hombre is the best! The scenery is spectacular, the water is beautiful, and the wind is amazing! Thank you to Riin and Miky for helping us have a wonderful time in this sweet spot. We will definitely be returning to my new favorite kiting location!
Communication with the founder of this kiteboarding organization was great. They went out of their way to satisfy me. The founder and their staff were very welcoming, enthusiastic, knowledgeable of their sport. The lodging was very clean, attractive, exotic. The restaurant had excellent food and choices. Beautiful location, scenery. The locals are very friendly and interesting, and they were very interested in me. A young Domican man guided me through the waters of Buen Hombre beach for some snorkeling and spear fishing. It'll make their day to offer them a tip. He actually declined my offer. It will help to possess a good understanding of spanish. I had no idea that I happened to choose the world capital of kiteboarding. Competitions are held here. The waters in Cabarete are very popular amongst kiteboarders.
The Buen Hombre Beach is perfect for beginners and for advanced kiters. I am a beginner myself and I really enjoyed my time and have learned a lot! Very friendly atmosphere and beautiful views. Definately reccomendable!
I'm not a kitesurfer yet! But Buen Hombre beach invites you. So if you are planning do some kitesurf this is the place. Excellent wind all the time, awesome places to visit.j.sarmiento.
marvilloso lugar, todo es bueno, personas amables, las clases son fenomenales y con profesores que les gusta ensenar, muy buen precio de servicios, comida, hotel, y todo.wanderfull place, great and nice people, the teaching kite class are excelent, the teacher really want to teach, very good price of servics, rich and fresh food, hotel and all things.
This is an awesome location, very secluded and beautiful. This place is a wonderful place to get away to. The water is shallow and the ocean is amazing. In addition to Kiting there is an array of other activities you can do if thats not your cup of tea. The food is spectacualr, fresh seafood is the everyday fare - for those that dont like fish there are chicken options, but the seafood is unbelievable. The best part of Kite Buen Hombre is the people. Riin will go out of her way to ensure that you are having a great time. She is honestly one of the friendliest and most interesting people I have ever met. She met me at the airport when we first met and waited for me because she knew I was coming alone. She treated me like family from the moment we met. Being with her is quite refreshing. I learned to kite from Miky. He is a great instructor. He really cared about my progress and was always up to catch the first wind of the day with me. He is super patient and a very positive person. If you are just learning, he's exactly what you need. He is very thorough and careful. I would recommend him to anyone just learning!
Buen Hombre truly is a hidden treasure for kiters. It is the best place in the Dominican Republic to kite for beginners or experts. The water is undeep and there are not 50 other kiters around you like in Cabarete. You can take all the time you need to learn how to kite. There are some small local restaurants next to the kite school where you can eat fish straight from the sea.Riin from Kite Buen Hombre is such an enthousiastic host. If she can not get you excited about kiting, no one will. :-) She's super friendly and will help you anyway she can.We' ve tried kiting in a couple of different locations and this definitely is the best one in the DR.Go and see for yourself!Sarah
A couple of buddies of mine and myself just returned from a kiting vacation in Cabarete. While there we were introduced to Riin of Kite Buen Hombre. We took the trip over to Buen Hombre and enjoyed the best kiting of the entire vacation. Cabarete pales when compared to this destination. The area is huge, the water like butter and the wind is strong. Riin was a wonderful host and saw to it that we had a fantastic lunch on the beach of fresh grilled fish and salad. She also saw to it that our dinner was was the best we enjoyed on our entire stay in the DR. I would HIGHLY recommend spending your kite time in Buen Hombre. It's quiet, remote and the kiting conditions are the best that I've ever enjoyed. If you are wanting kite instruction, this is the best place you will find on the planet.
