This is a very professionally done exhibit. It contains a well presented representation of the Jewish culture in Russia. The exhibits are very high tech electronic displays
It is a brand new museum for the Moscow scene. Very different from the traditional notion of a museum. You will be fascinated. Visit the 4D film. Learn about hard life in the Pale through interactive exhibitions.
The interactive things are interesting. Also it focuses on Jews in Russia, and their history over the times. Some things are only explained in Russian, but there is more English than in most museums in Moscow. The staff speaks good English and you can buy some kosher snacks there.
This museum proved to be the most well laid out of those we visited in Moscow, taking you on a flowing story from the 4d movie introduction, to the settlement of Jews in Russia and then future transitions of people after WW2.Unlike other Moscow museums which just show you things/stuff, this provided the context, which was a nice change. It also explained the rise of socialism (Lenin) and gave an overview of Russia during WW2 (Stalin).English subtitles on movies/electronic displays were good, and could be expanded on for fixed displays (and there is room to stick it on under the Russian notes).Worth a visit if you have 3-4 days in Moscow.Tough to find, and we spent an hour or so wandering around looking for it. Once found it was easy to get back to metro, simplified into below directions.DIRECTIONS:Take the new light green line to Mar'ina Roshcha (currently end of line) - If coming from Moscow, take escalators to the south/back of train/direction train came from- Up escalators, take exit to the left- Coming out of metro, should be next to a funky looking grey curved roofed building next to you (if you see park plaza shopping mall - wrong exit)- Walk towards corner facing white/red building and cross the 4 lane road with garden strip in middle, towards trees/park - going south- Cross road and head down into underpass to cross the adjacent street- Go through underpass, head straight and take right exit out - Coming out of the underpass, the tall apartment building (white with red edges) should be on your on left, walk straight ahead with major road on right. The opposite side of road has mural with lady/books/rainbow- Walk past a small car park, over little road, continue walking next to the major 4 lane road- Walk on, with Yamaha building on right on other side of road- Turn left at next street and walk past a building with a gold sign ATJIAC on left and a pale green building with #31 on it on the right. Move to the right side of the street (green building side)- Keep walking past a bar called 'Friends House' on a black sign, on your left hand side, on other side of road- Coming to a T junction, you should be looking at a red 2-3 storey building, cross the road and then turn right and walk down street with red building on your left.- Continue past a grey building with a fence, entrance should be 200m from T junction
The depth of thought, and multi-media displays, the superb videos, the exceedingly painful, but accurate, portrayal of WW2, and then the tragedy of the Jews during that war, the appeals to tolerance - all of this make this exhibit stunning. Don't let the Soviet style security at entry spoil your stay. And, the creation of the world multi-media theater experience at the entry is a technical wonder, if also fundamentally absurd - if you can suppress that response, it is just a lot of fun.
New museum in an ancient constructivist site (built by Melnokove) - to see as an architect world achievement.
A really nice and modern museum. It shows a wide range of informations about culture and history. I strongly recommend to go, and to take a lot of time with you.
Very high-tech museum, some in English, most in Russian. Interesting show of the history of Russian jews, Current exhibition (summer 2014) of Russian avant-garde art and aviation is outstanding!! About 10 minutes walk from the Marina Roscha metro station. Last station on the light green line. It's recommended to have a detailed map of the streets, but not hard to find. Across the street from the museum some Kosher food stores.
absolutely speechless about this museum! its amazing place for all ages, all nationalities, everyone can find there smth interesting for himself. I advise to visit it for the whole day, the cafeteria is very good for a break and also u can have a rest at the library. i spent there only couple of hours so I definitely will come back in my next visit to moscow
This place offers variety of things to do/watch, so any age group would find something interesting. Make sure you visit their website prior to your museum visit and check what they offer, because they have marvellous programs for kids. The 5D program on creation is aaah-mazing - even our teenage kids loved it. The price is more than reasonable when you see the level of the program offered.
