Young children will love this place. Not enough to interest school aged kids. Small but large enough to keep the little ones interested and busy.
We always enjoy our visits to Muncie, especially when stopping at the MCM. Our children range in age from 12-4 and there is something for each age group.
We have had a membership to the MCM for years now. It's a really wonderful place to go with young kids. In addition, your MCM membership gets you into various museums around the country! I highly recommend it and a membership is an excellent value.
This is a great place for elementary aged kids. Birthday party for kids would be great too. Lots of interactive activities to keep kids busy for hours. Reasonable prices. Not for jr high or older. I enjoy taking my very active grandson there. There are outside activities but great idea for a rainy day.
This place is a hands on, fun & interesting place for youngpeople( toddlers to 12 years old) they can climb an ant hill, learn about fire safety,& sometime the fat cat GarfieldJim Daviscat comes to visit. Jim was born around Fairmont & now liveshere in Muncie
My 2 year old son & I were looking for something to do. The Muncie Children's Museum was a perfect fit. There were two field trips going on during the time of our visit which made it a bit busier than expected. However, even with all that commotion going in there was plenty to see & do! The set up of this museum was great, though not big enough to spend an entire day. The museum was more like large creative play centers. My two year old and I both had a great time for only $12. It was a fun afternoon.
This museum is great for toddler age children up to the tween ages. There is much to do and see there and a lot of hands on activities. Our favorite is the semi truck that you can actually climb into. Things to do there range from viewing live reptiles, learning about trains, pretend play in the grocery store, an outside garden, and a dinosaur bone dig. This museum is reasonably priced and you can spend as much time there as you like. There is even a nice outside area for a picnic and you can bring your own lunch. Parking is free.
We were in Indiana visiting family. The kids (4 and 2) had cabin fever so we headed over to the Muncie Children's Museum...not expecting much. It far surpassed my expectations. My 4 year old's favorite thing was the ant "farm" where you could crawl around. They also had several live amphibians and reptiles to look at. The train exhibit was neat but didn't seem to work well anymore. The 2 year old liked the water exhibit. Overall this museum provided a much need 1-2 hour activity. If you're in the area and looking for something to do with young kids it's worth a stop.
I teach kindergarten, and I took my class to the Muncie Children's Museum last spring. The kids had a blast. It is entirely made up of hands-on, interactive exhibits. My boys loved the real semi truck and all my students loved the water table and ant hole exhibit. There also are many animals living in habitats throughout the museum.
I went to a birthday party at the museum (they offer that for those that are interested) for my friend's son. It is a wide open space with a lot to be seen from the 5 track train set, to climbing equipment, to animals, and so on. They have a great grocery area for the kids to do their own shopping. They also have some great features on what makes Indiana. My daughter did not want to leave when it was time, as it is a great place to take your younger children (I would say 12 years and under).
