Having visited Munising Falls in October, we decided to peak in the winter. It was a well packed but not shoveled 800' walk up to the base of the falls. The water was still flowing inside of a tannin infused ice column set inside the sandstone circular cliff. It was spectacular. We walked up and behind the ice column (probably not legal, but others had).
Nice walk, fall color. Weather was perfect. Lots of photo opportunities, falls nice to look at. You can stay as longas you want, and it's free
There are viewing platforms on both sides. Also lovely rocks formations to see along the path. We went in the rain, and still really enjoyed the falls. Well worth seeing. The park station was very informative about the area, and offered great advice for our trip.
We stumbled upon Munising Falls almost by accident - and we were so happy to have found this little pit-stop! It's a beautiful stop, very easily accessible. The interpretive centre staff was very friendly!
Beautiful waterfall all year round. The path to it is kept open through the winter. A short walk takes you into a small canyon which has a spectacular up close view of the waterfall at the end.
A trip to the Munising Falls was our last visit prior to leaving Munising. It was early January 2015 and the falls were frozen - quite beautiful. If you have a trailer, no worries, there is a very large parking area that is kept plowed. Easy to walk to and fun to photograph, worth checking out!
Title says it all - it's a beautiful walk and the reward at the end is well worth it. Breathtaking! We stayed on the main path and didn't go to the upper level, but the view from the lower level is fantastic. The walk is along a paved pathway which follows a rushing stream, and there are a lot of very pretty vantage points and photo ops along the way. This waterfall is truly gorgeous.
Munising Falls is one of the easier waterfalls to visit. It's just a short walk from the parking area, and there are viewing platforms. While it isn't a spectacular falls, it is very pretty and tranquil. The rock formation around the falls is unique. Stop by the Munising Visitor's Bureau (or visit online http://www.munising.org) for some great information and maps.
These falls are basically in town, so you are probably going to drive right by them. If you have a little extra time, by all means stop to see them. There are viewing platforms higher up on both sides as well as a central ground level view. However, if you are pressed for time, don't bother as there are better things to see in the area.
I think this was one of favorite waterfalls we visited out of all we went too. It was easy access to get too. I would love to see it in the fall and get lots of pictures. You'll have lots of fun.
