This a fabulous small cinema showing wonderful films not necessarily shown in mainstream cinemas. The theatres are roomy with comfortable seats & refreshments are available.
A great building, very old fashioned, beanbags down the front, fans, no Aircon, licensed, balcony overlooks the crossroad and park. We love it.
The Murwillumbah Regent Cinema was built in the 1940’s and has magnificent Art Deco ambiance, complete with an outdoor balcony. The cinema itself offers an excellent variety of films including art house films, Bollywood movies and selected mainstream movies plus more! The cinema regularly holds special events, charity and fund raising events, guest performances, speakers and Q&A spots where appropriate. The management and staff truly care about your experience at the cinema and tickets are at reasonable prices.
An interesting cinema showing some very interesting art house movies but which also hosts musicians occasionally. They serve pizza which you are allowed to take into the cinema. If you want old world, choose a beanbag at the front.
This cinema now is what's left from what was once the grandest cinema in regional NSW. In it's time it was air conditioned (remarkable for the 50's!) and was the centre for socialising on a Saturday night as well as a must for local kids on a saturday matinee. Now it's a funky, inexpensive, family-friendly cinema suitable for all ages and film types. It has seats and bean-bags to sit or lounge on, an astounding pizza order system, and is friendly yet shows all the latest releases. And not just mainstream stuff. If you've run out of things to do at night in Murwillumbah, head to the Regent for a great experience. Totally fun.
Love coming to the Regent, be it for a movie or coffee on the amazing balcony. Our Spanish Language group meets here once a month and really enjoy the cosmopolitan atmosphere and friendly welcome. Chilling on the balcony in the evening with the magic art deco facade lit up behind you is a VERY Murwillumbah treat.
The Regent has been doing excellent things for years and now that Ken and Mia have taken over it has gone to another level. You always feel very welcome and know that the movie you are about to see has been carefully chosen. There is a range of snacks, hot and cold drinks to purchase beforehand and don't forget the beanbags to lounge in while watching your movie.cinemaregent.com
Beautiful Art Deco cinema and run by very pleasant people. Great movies and cafe. Just a shame ticket prices increased at a time when other cinemas on the Tweed reduced theirs to attract more movie goers.
This is a lovely trip into the past - an art-deco building but with all the latest facilites such as the wine bar/ coffee shop. The cinema has a great intimate atmosphere with specialty nights with live entertainment of high quality.
Does your local cinema have an outdoor terrace? Apart from interesting movies there might be a pizza night, afternoon tea, fundraising functions, film festivals, social gatherings, live shows. Good coffee, wine and beer - something for everyone. It's part of the community - how lucky is the community!!
