yoiu pay one time and you can come back anytime. Its a central location too, to make a break for lunch or dinner
$20 at the Heavenly Village teeny tiny crowded ice rink, or $7 at the huge hockey sized ice arena? Say no more.
Nice rink, reasonable price. Kids able to skate for 2 hours. Walking distance from the hotel and ski lifts. Ample area for parents to watch kids skate.
ice arena is very cold, but i guess its supposed to be. be sure to dress in layers, but its a nice place.
My daughter loves to go there to ice skate. The only thing I did not like was that no one seemed to be supervising the skaters. Some people were going the wrong way, but no one stopped them.
A really nice ice rink. The ice is in good shape, the building is bright and clean, easy to get to, plenty of parking. They serve food and drinks and rent skates, and they are located in a beautiful pine forest a few minutes walk from the lake, so you can bring a group of people and everyone will find something to do. It's a good way to spend a few hours in this area, fun, healthy and cheap.
This is the only real big ice rink in the entire Reno Tahoe area. All the rest of the dinky ice patches at the ski resorts are for children and tourists. I have speed skates and this is the only place I can actually use them and get up some speed. I like coming early as I can to avoid the crowds of children. Some of the teenage boys try to keep up with me, but they just can't on those hockey skates. Speaking of skates, if you have you own, you'll be way better off, as like with most rinks, the rentals are all worn out and floppy. The ice is usually kept in pretty good condition. The rink is open year round, but in summer I'd rather be out riding my bike.
We LOVE hockey. So to see games here is great. Everything is close up and you can see all the action. What's not to like?
I had always been skating on the rollers but never on the ice. Though this was the first time i was skating on the ice, i loved the rink and it was fun being around there. The charge was only $9 with $3 skate rentals.
We've been to Tahoe for 3 years but this was the first time we tried the local ice arena. This is not the ice rink in Heavenly Village. This is the city ice rink. The kids loved it so much we went twice. I think they liked it better than skiing, which was great since the snow wasn't very good later in the week. You can rent skates and skate during their open skate times. Huge rink with big window to the trees outside. We skated while a snow storm hit so we could see the snow falling the whole time we skated. Very clean, big snack area, good restrooms, bleachers for watching inside by the rink, and crates/barrels to help young, new skaters. There was hardly anyone there both times we went. Very affordable too. I think it only cost $10 to rent skates for adults. You can skate the whole time during the open skate. Bundle up though. It's colder inside the rink than outside. We even needed hoods/hats as adults. The kids wore their ski helmets, although the rink has free helmets for kids to use too. Great alternative to skiing or nice way to take a break.
