The gondola is a fun activity. The views from the observation deck are priceless. My husband and I packed a picnic lunch and ate it at the tables on the deck. Very pleasant. There is a snack bar on the observation deck and lots of other food options at the top of the gondola lift. I wish the ticket prices weren't $52 per person. If it was more affordable I would take my teenagers up the next time we are in Tahoe.
We had used Tripadvisor to guide our precious time in Tahoe, however despite the warnings on costs, we thought that we could not leave the lake without catching the whole enchilada! So it was pricey on our day of arrival $ 52 each! We were lucky enough to be within walking distance and we had no regrets. Due to the early afternoon arrival we had no queues for tickets, none for boarding the gondola and therefore had one to ourselves which meant we had more opportunities to move around and take in all the angles of our ascent. As we heard via previous Tripadvisor reports it was important to get off the Gondola at the observation point - no sweat you get plenty of time to get off - but it was unfortunate that the gift shop and refereshments were closed. Nevertheless, the views :-) We are sure there are not many more like this.We were blessed with high temperatures in Feb (not so good for the skiers), but as casual non-skiing walkers this was ideal. A quick trip into the ski resort, a wander round the bottom of the slopes and the Tamarack Lodge (tres expensive snacks and refreshments!!) and we were sufficed.A long but relatively swift queue later we were riding the Gondolas back down.Probably would not do this again, but enjoyed this experience.......
For convenience, taking the Heavenly Gondola up the mountain is the fastest and most convenient way to get to the Tamarak Lodge and access to the whole Heavenly ski area.
Managed to push some man made snow around.Good job making snow. It is obvious that Vail Associates has made a big investment in snow making equipment here.
Well managed gondola taking you to the middle station. Due to lack of now at the base station you had to come down on it too. Never queued for more than 2 minutes and was there Presidents day holiday week.
It not only offers a great and smooth ride, but also fantastic Lake Tahoe views. It was the Presidents day holiday week, but never queued for more than two minutes. The guys that work there were very helpful and friendly.
This is a great way to get up the hill for a day on the slopes, but if you just want a scenic view and lunch, be aware it's very expensive! The Tamerack Lodge is gorgeous at the top and the views can not be beat. All in all its a good ride :)
My wife was looking for snow. When we arrived in Tahoe it was not very snowy. we took the Gondola up to the Heavenly Valley. got out first at the observation deck and the views were amazing the entire lake and valley. The air was cool and clean and the workers were very kind and courteous. the rest of the trip us nice and quiet and surprisingly in the valley it was snowing, skiers were skiing snow boarders were boarding lots of fun to be had. it was to bad we had to leave but we will return.
The Gondola is a fun ride. You get to see the lake from the top of the mountain. Although having to ride the gondola for skiing at heavenly makes the lift tickets pricier than they need to be.
Smooth, comfortable ride to an observation deck than to the ski area base. Can be romantic during off peak when only two may be riding. When skiing, didn't like the steps down at the top, until we found there was an elevator available to get to the snow surface.
