If you admire seascapes, crashing waves, and picturesque settings then Pt. Judith Light and its adjacent park area is for you. Parking can be difficult a times, mostly weekends and summers, but during the week you'll find locals admiring the beauty of this special place.
It's free. You can picnic there or just walk around and enjoy the ocean views. Look for the natural heart on one of the large rocks!
We visited the coast guard station and the lighthouse. Beautiful area! If you like history make sure you stop by here to see the lighthouse and learn about the SS Black Point that was torpedoed down 3 miles off the coast of Narragansett during WWII.
Absolutely the best views . Just the most beautiful Sunrises and Sunsets. Picnic. read, enjoy the breeze, maybe even wittness a wedding here.
A great spot to view the ocean and frequented by fishermen and surfers. Park your car in the free parking lot to view the waves and a distant view of Block Island. As you leave the area, take your first left (about 1/4 of a mile) and turn down the dirt road (Natural Resources) for a similar view. Also free parking.Look for the World War Two bunkers that were once armed with cannons for enemy aircraft. Many of these are in the area - but most visible from here. Stand a the water's edge looking at Block Island and look back over your left shoulder to see the partially hidden bunker. On your way home - stop at Aunt Carries for clam cakes and "chowda". Then follow 1A north on Ocean road to view the sea wall and the Towers (about 4 miles from Aunt Carrie;s).
Very scenic and peaceful. Didn't expect the craggy/rocky beach but it was a cool experience for our teen nieces and they enjoyed it. Lots of people were there enjoying the day. We even added to the rock sculptures.
Plenty of parking, quiet sit watch the ocean, boats, ships and the occasional surfer. Bring a picnic basket and a camera. There a few benches but bring your own chair or blanket.
We visited the lighthouse on a weekday in October and were able to walk the grounds unrestricted. The grounds and tower are owned by the USCG. The tower is not open to the public. The beach here is rocky and great if you have children who like to find sparkly stones. Overall this is a beautiful lighthouse and great place to come relax.
This is absolutely a beautiful area! The Lighthouse is one of my favorite areas to visit yearly. It is a must see, and a great place to take photos!
This is a great lightouse and the views are beautiful - the waves were bif and there were several people surfing - so much fun to watch.
