It is an incredible country store that seems to go on for miles. It has something for everyone from Tilley items to furniture, shoes, clothes kitchen gadgets and food. I buy a lot of gifts here and always find something I want to go back for.
A great assortment of out of the ordinary products. A true cornucopia of collection type pieces and interesting furniture. All offerings are of superior quality. Service is friendly and attentive. Great place to spend hours browsing.
I heard about Kilborn's when we were travelling up the Rideau Canal by boat in the summer of 2012 but it was too late for us to stop. Finally we made it there on our way home from Ottawa yesterday. This store is not one to miss! I heard they had shoes but they have everything and the quality is exceptional, the displays so inviting and there is something for everyone. The store closed before I got to see it all so another trip is definitely in order. They were able to fit my difficult feet too. Fantastic!!!
This store has all you want. I spend hours browsing. They have the largest selection of shoes you can imagine.
Wow. If you care close to Newboro, ever, you must check this place out. It is amazing. I was there for 3 hours and did not see everything. There is something for absolutely EVERYONE here. You simply have to go to Kilborns.
Kilborn's is located in the small town if Newboro which is a town that caters to the boating and cottage crowd. This is a surprising large place full of clothing, specialty food, gifts and furniture. They also have an ice cream bar which we often take advantage of. We always drop in to shop when we are in the area. Recommended.
My favorite store. I make sure to go a couple of times every year and just love it. Worth the drive.
This store is awesome but extremely expensive! Great for ideas and lovely clothes, footwear and household goods but very expensive!
After reading the many reviews, we had high hopes walking into Kilborn's. What hit both of us immediately was there was visually too much vying for our attention. As well, if one's taste is not chic-country style or cottage or American, this place could turn you off. Some good deals were found among the high end, quality goods. The store is definitely "chock-full" of stuff to look at. However, we spent about an hour looking around, and added another half hour to try on shoes and clothing (all at 50% off). Certainly not the 2-3+ hours others stated. We would likely not return as it was generally not our style, so take this as a personal opinion only.
We were out for an autumn drive with friends who live in the area and wanted us to experience Kilborn's on the Rideau, a high-end "General Store' located in the quaint village of Neboro which is a few miles from Newport, a spectacular tourist destination. We were totally caught off guard by the store which covers two expansive floors including high-end, country-chic decor and furniture; luxe foods (chocolates, spices, frozen soups & entrees, sauces, frozen homemade style desserts, etc.) and unique and pricey clothing and shoes from Europe (Firefly shoes and bags from England and Reiker shoes from Germany are just a few of the brands we saw). The store was decorated for Christmas with spectacular style and I could have happily spent the entire day taking in the sights. If you are looking for a destination shopping experience without having to travel south (reminds me of the shops in Stowe, VT), then stop into Kilborn's on the Rideau; it's like stepping back in time. What a treat on a dull November day!
