Worth it! Stunning views and camera opportunities! Dress for warmth!!! Do ensure your camera is ready for the bright settings!
Waste of money, the falls were frozen, although we were told this, it was still not worth the money, a few boards with information on and a viewing tower, but to be honest the view was better up top and for free.
Basically, as the weather was so cold parts of the falls are just ice, so we did not actually get to see behind the falls which was disappointing. We did get told this upon entry however, and received a bit of discount off the entry fee for this reason. The tunnel behind the falls has some pictures on the wall and bits of information about the history of the falls, but these can also be viewed in the welcome centre above. The best part was the small observation desk, where you view the falls from a lower view point, side on, this gave you a different view from the street above which was good, but I would not recommend this, this time of year, stick to the free viewing from the street!!!
This attraction is not so interesting in the winter as there is little to see due to the incredible ice formations near the falls. There is one enclosed area where you can get a side view under the falls that is really amazing. I would not recommend doing this in the winter as your experience is very limited, but in warmer seasons I'm sure it is spectacular.
I enjoyed it but found that it was not as exciting as I thought it would be. I'm glad I did it but it actually left me feeling a little let down. There's one small viewing area after a really long walk & then you have to walk all the way back & there are people going in both directions at the same time. Not one of my favourite attractions.
don't rush it. I took my time and let myself feel the power of the falls and enjoy getting wet. It is loud so you might want ear plugs
We have visited the falls many times over the years however made the trip this time to see all the ice. As part of our Wonder Pass (which was 19.99) a visit to Journey Behind the Falls was included. We realized that the reduced cost was because some of the viewing areas were closed due to the ice. There was an area where we could see the falls from the side. The temp the day we visited was around -4 and a bit of wind. It was a little chilly there but certainly not enough to keep us away.It truly was spectacular being up close to the rushing water and all the ice. Icicles hanging down from the window openings provided beautiful photos. Great photo opportunities. The section where you would be able to stand behind the falls and have the water rushing in front of you was closed as it was frozen. I would imagine during prime time it would be very crowded. There seemed to be only 2 elevators to take you up/down. With lots of visitors that would definitely add to the time it takes. We enjoyed our visit even though a part was off limits. We were aware of this when we purchased our tickets so it was not a surprise.
A bit too early to see through 2 of the viewing spots beneath the falls or the lower level, but have never been on this tour before and it was spectacular. Will do this again in the summertime when I'm sure it will be 5/5!
