We have been twice to Rookery Open Farm with our toddler and find it very enjoyable. It is a smaller open farm, but also less expensive than other open farms we have visited in the area. It appears very well maintained and clean with plenty of animals to see and pet. They have children play areas indoors and out and in the summer they had several bouncy castles for different age groups. A nice day out that does not break the bank
Visited Rookery Open Farm today for the first time. It cost £6 for me and my daughter to get in and everything inside (other than food and drinks) was free. You can bring your own picnic to eat there but their own food and drinks were reasonably priced anyway. There is a large soft play area suitable for young ones and older children alike. There is a separate area for younger children. The petting farm is excellent as you can go in to the animal enclosures and pet the animals. The large outdoor grassy area is brilliant. It has bouncy castles, again for different ages and various play equipment for different ages. My daughter wore herself completely out these and had a lovely time. I would definitely go back to Rookery Open Farm.
The actual place is great with lots of lovely animals and a great play area it was such a shame the staff let the place down. The staff working the shop were incredibly rude to both me and my friends on separate occasions. They don't sell milk for children as they may not have enough for coffee and tea- strange as it is a children's place- my only advice is to make sure you take your own and don't use the coffee shop facilities. Otherwise a good day out.
Fun for all ages .great to get up close to a great variety of farm animals. We had our two young grandchildren with us,and they were mesmerised by it all.The indoor and outdoor play area's have a great selection of equipment to play on.Food and drink are very reasonable. You can take your own food and have a picnic outside. All the staff are friendly, and helpfull.
We took our 14 month old son here for the afternoon and we really enjoyed the animals and play facilities. You can take the kids into the pens and get up close to the rabbits, goats etc. The playground areas are really good and the bouncy castle is brilliant.Unfortunately the refreshments are poor and he entrance fee for over 2's is only 50p cheaper than adult prices.
Lots to do and see for the children both inside and out, but the admission cost and any food purchased is very expensive. Plenty of farm animals to see and various other apparatus for the children to use, climb over and ride on. Given you can afford it, there is certainly enough to keep children up to say seven or eight amused for several hours.
We like it here and although it is expensive there is a large indoor and out door play area and of course all the animals ! It is a lovely day out especially in the warmer months x
We visited Rookery Open Farm as a get together of nursery friends between ages of 3 & 4. We had the glouriously sunny warm weather on our side & it was one of the best days out I've ever had with my son. (Now 4) the farm is mainly under cover so still worthy of a visit in the rain with lovely well looked after animals. There are plenty of opportunities for kids & adults alike to get in with rabbits & the goats! There is a viewing platform for little ones to get up & see the dairy cows. There are lots of different farm animals here. There is an amazing outdoor space with plenty of seating picnic areas & you can take your own picnic in too keep costs down. There are brilliant inflatables (huge tractor obstacle course type) & a separate bouncy castle. In the big grassy area is a really lovely play area with wooden play structures & you walk over to the fence to see horses/ponies. There is also a very good 3 level indoor soft play area, again with plenty of seating & a good size cafe area serving up tea, cakes & ice creams. Its extremely family & young child friendly. The staff were lovely. The price of admission on first impression was a little steep however once I saw everything I do think it's great value for money. I've been to farms before that charge extra to access soft play & bouncy castles but this is an all inclusive cost. Once your in the experience is all paid for. No hidden extra costs. We spent a whole very enjoyable day here & I would highly recommend it.
GF had organised a few hours to meet friends and their young daughter here. A few hours. Worked really well. I had brought my own children here 15 years earlier and it's been updated, great cafe and I door facility for tumbling about. Lots of animals to see and a large picnic area if you bring your own food (as we did).
Lovely afternoon out, daughter loved going into the pens with the goats, who were extremely tame. Nice picnic area with bouncy castles, swings and slides. Indoor play area great. Would highly recommend.
