My husband turned me onto Susan and her classes years ago and I and a bunch of friends have been making her classes a tradition ever since. Everything is top notch from Susan and her expertise to the location of her beautiful French kitchen, the quality of what we work with, what we learn that we can take home and USE and most of all the great memories of time spent with friends and food! I love her goodies so much she even made my oldest sons graduation cake, EVERYONE raved!Do yourself a favore gather some friends and spend a day cooking with Susan!
The Little French Bakery has some yummy treats. I love their tart pastries.
Stunning cakes, wonderful kids cake decorating party!
The pastries from this bakery are hand made in small batches and sold at farmers markets. The bread is good and crusty, the croissants and pain au chocolat (chocolate croissants) are nice and flaky and buttery. The baker studied at a pastry school in France, and it shows from her ability to bake delicious European style breads and pastries that are hard to find in the midwest.
I decided to take a bread class from Susan at The Little French Bakery and I am so glad I did. It was so enjoyable and Susan is a wonderful teacher. She really made making bread so much fun. The Cinnamon Swirl bread is too die for. I never thought I would be able to make such wonderful breads and now I do in my own kitchen. The bakery is so quaint and nice and Susan puts on a grand show. It's the little things in life that I love and she provided all and more. I will definitely be looking for more classes to take and what a wonderful way to spend a day. It was just perfect.
I had so much fun taking a Morning Breads class at The Little French Bakery! We ate a delicious breakfast and lunch and spent the rest of the day baking! Susan was very encouraging, and I picked up some great tips not to mention recipes for all the delicious breads we made! It was a great day, and I learned a lot. Susan is just an incredibly fun person to be around, I can't wait to take another class! Her kitchen is tucked away in the country just outside of Baraboo, WI. I'm definitely going back for brick oven pizza this Summer! Come hungry!
Our group of Job's Daughters descended upon The Little French Bakery for a wonderful afternoon. We enjoyed a French Lunch prepared with a recipe for Quiche from the Corden Bleu. The girls (ages 10-17) ate in the kitchen, as all good chefs do I'm told. Following the lovely meal, the girls were instructed by Sue on the art of Pate au chou (beg indulgence on spelling...my French was many moons ago!) and handmade Pastry cream. The girls enjoyed separating the eggs with their fingers and whipping them by hand in a copper bowl. The final result of Swan shaped cream puffs were devine. We had a wonderful day and Sue and her staff were amazing. We would highly recommend this trip no matter your age, cooking experience or time of year. The sprinkles of snow were a lovely touch as were all the small gestures extended throughout our trip!
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Susan and The Little French Bakery. The day was almost too perfect, from the beautiful scenic drive to the bakery to the informative class and of course Susan her knowledge and effortless teaching skills. I can't wait to come back and take more classes. I have been baking bread for awhile but this course taught me so much about wheat, techniques and the ability to find joy in all of it. I went home full from the delicious lunch and loaded down with lovely baquettes and fougasse. Thanks again for a picture perfect day.
Our expectations were exceeded this weekend! Without prior experience with French baking we learned to make wonderful French Breads and Morning Breads & Cinnamon Rolls. Susan demonstrated and fully explained the process as my husband and I, along with 4 others, worked through the steps across the counter from her. Everything was delicious and we took home recipes that we plan to use regularly. We took a class on both Saturday and Sunday and that worked well into our plans for a four day weekend. Today I am back at work with special treats to share with my co-workers!
My daughter and I spent the day at the bakery learning the ins and outs of making the perfect baguette. We learned so much it's hard to put into words - the flour, the dough, the yeast, the technique. Somehow, something that had always seemed to be a bit of a mystery was demystified in a relaxed fun setting, such that by the time we left it had felt more like a spa retreat than a cooking class. Very highly recommend the experience.
