This is a beautiful escape only a short drive (or even a pretty easy train ride from city to chatswood, then on to north ryde station and walk down). You might encounter a film crew or two shooting an australian soap, a shy blue tongued lizard or if you're very lucky you might spot the lyrebird (shown on australia's 10 cent peice). Lots of picnic areas but i wasnt too keen on the bbq idea in amongst all that timber. Also a great spot for jogging with very few cars using the roads and some nice undulating hills to challenge yourself with.
Stayed in self contained cabin. All mod cons including full kitchen, living, separate bedroom, aircon, flat screen tv. National park setting with lots of birds and wild life. Easy walk to train/bus.Courtesy bus to local club. Loved it.
Great place to relax. The sound of cars is drowned out, the further into the park you go. Plenty of tables and toilet facilities.
This excellent protected area of natural bushland and waterway is a lovely environment for walking, picnicking, cycling and other outdoor recreations. There are tables, BBQ facilities, shelter sheds, toilet blocks and camping sites and cabins. My last visit was as a guest at a birthday party beside the river. Bookings are available for some areas and sites, so it would be wise to investigate this if you are celebrating a special occasion or catering for a large group and want to be sure of a suitable space.
Located close to rail and bus, this tourist (caravan park), very close to Central Sydney is a great park. Good size caravan sites, lots of shady trees, and very clean ammenaties. Have stayed several times and will be back!! Staff very friendly and helpful Will continue to return
It’s a great place for a day out with the family; there are lots of picnic areas to choose from, including those that offer picnic tables, barbecues, children’s play equipment, flat grassy areas and easy access to walking tracks and places to ride your bike. Whatever activities you fancy, you’re bound to find a perfect place to picnic for the day. When you’ve polished off the picnic, you can hit the walking tracks to explore the park’s bushland, hire a boat from the Lane Cove Boatshedexternal link to row along the quiet Lane Cove River or cycle along the park’s roads. There’s also a fire trail between Pennant Hills and West Pymble, where you can ride your bike if you’re feeling more aI havdventurous. The park’s historic sites are best explored along the self-guided Heritage walk. Pick up a brochure from the Lane Cove park office.
A beautiful park that most Sydney siders don't even know exists. However, the accommodation (cabins) are not up to same standard. National Parks need to do more.
Great for a walk or drive through, so peaceful. Great wildlife, Cockatoos, parrots, wildfowl and lizards.
