Like most people, we hit the museum on a rainy beach day and were pleasantly surprised at what a wonderful little museum this was. The exhibits were well thought out and kid-friendly, the collection was a lot larger than we expected, and the building seemed to grown in size the more we walked around. Focusing on wildlife living onshore and in the waters around the adjacent beach, the museum did a very good job explaining how the ecosystems and different creatures lived within a short distance away from where we were standing. I'm thoroughly amazed at how wonderful this little museum was and hope that other people decide to visit it more often than just on rainy days. Quick tip: The museum has a partnership with the planetarium. So if you bring a receipt from one to the other, there is a $1 discount per person.
A great little museum that individuals of all ages will enjoy. It is a non -profit museum that was originally developed by a husband/wife from Ocean Isle. The exhibits are outstanding, the background is awesome-a super place for everyone to enjoy!!!
A wonderful small museum that has the best staff in the world. The staff is genuinely enthusiastic about the exhibits. They have an outstanding touch tank and we highly recommend watching the feeding session. A lot of care is taken with these fish. The fish are very healthy, tanks look great and the water quality is outstanding. I especially liked the exhibit on erosion, granted it needs a makeover but has a excellent teaching point behind it for young and old.
We went to the children's puppet story time and animal feeding. It was a good time and we generally enjoyed it, but it was only about 90 minutes of entertainment, even with the puppets. Its a great way to spend a little time in the morning, but not for much more than that.
was very surprised by this museum! does not look like much from the outside but had a lot going on inside. 3 year old loved it! it was perfect outing on a rainy day. staff was very nice and knowledgable
Was not expecting to find such a great little museum. A good value with a friendly, informative staff. Definitely a great way to spend an hour or so.
Easygoing museum with helpful teaching staff. The kids were entertained nicely. Lots to see and touch.
I was very impressed by this museum. It had one of the best display of seashells I've ever seen (well organized and labeled). For such a small place they offer a lot. They have a changing tides gallery (interactive displays), water ways gallery, green swamp diorama, sea shore gallery, ocean reef gallery (I loved their dry aquarium), barrier island gallery, and coastal plains gallery.
Well, I was not impressed by the museum and felt it was overpriced for the few exhibits that were there. My family was in and out within 30 minutes of arriving. It is conveniently located near the main bridge and has ample parking. I believe it was $8.oo for adults and maybe $5.00 for kids. (maybe incorrect) I will not return to this museum.
This was a nice little museum and a nice break out of the sun. The museum is small and we were in and out in under a 1/2 hour. They have a live touch tank that the kids could touch (mine were too scared). I thought the museum was a little overpriced, but we will probably go back again next year. Nice staff and very clean
