We had an absolutely amazing time at Rowdy's. The two guys we had as guides were awesome and my two kids and myself enjoyed ourselves very much while on the Full Zip Tour. We will be back in 2015.
I personally have a fear of heights, it was a great comfort to me that our guides were very patient and lots of fun! Had trouble stepping off 2 of the 14 ziplines that we did on the 2 1/2 hour tour,( that is owing to my fear of heights) thanks to Coop for being encouraging, I made it all the way thru, and actually loved it! Our group had folks ranging between 5 years old and 70 something everyone had a blast! Coop was really good with our youngest member who took to the guide like a new best friend! Next time I am in the area I might try the full day adventure that includes a little bit of everything, zipline, ATVs, horseback riding, kayaks and a meal, bet it would be a fantastic day!!!
This was on "the Bucket List" for one of our group. The crew was great, friendly and accomodating. Everyone spoke to us and made an effort to make sure we had a great time. None of us had zipped before and the training was fun and informative. Our tour guides were funny and entertaining. First we called ahead and found out that Friday is not as busy as Saturday. We planned our 2 hour trip to be there late in the day. No lines, no waiting. We did the full zip line tour. Compared to other such attractions the price was average.I'd recommend this for adventurous people young and old.
Hopefully this long review will help someone plan their day better or decide if the cons outweigh the pros in paying this much money. We did the full day tour at Rowdy Adventures that includes the 18 line zipline tour, ATV Ride, Lunch, Horseback Ride, Canoe Float. When I called he said their only food provided for lunch is usually hamburgers and beans. I don’t love hamburgers and I mentioned that so they said they would have hot dogs for me. They followed through on that. We arrived at 10am for our tour and we were sent outside after signing paperwork. We were handed harnesses, gloves, and helmets. There were no instructions given on harnesses, we had to figure out it ourselves. We were then lead up to the practice zip line where they gave us a minute or so of instructions on how to stop ourselves and how to hold on. After this, we were taken to do the zip line tour. Not much information was given to us about the tour.. we had to ask for the info such as how many lines there are, how high and how long some of them were, etc. I was kind of scared and one of our guides, DJ was very reassuring. I was also having trouble stopping and doing the ‘break’ motion, and DJ caught me at the end, afterwards he had my full trust. Our other guide didn’t really seem awake until about halfway through, even admitting it to us which was not reassuring for someone like me. A few lines in, they told me my harness was on backwards or upside down. Thankfully this didn’t make me fall or anything.. scary. A few groups were let to pass us, one group only have one person less than us so it didn’t make much sense at all. Due to this, we were late for everything else the rest of the day. After the first few zip lines, it was apparent I couldn’t catch on to the ‘break’ tactic and they told me about a method where they could clip the carabineer in the front and I could simply pull down to stop, instead of using my arm to stop myself. This was way easier, I wish they would have told me that after the first one because it made it much more enjoyable for me. They said it wears down their carabineers sooner, but really in the amount I enjoyed it more, I would recommend suggesting it sooner to beginners. I had to remind one of our guides every single time from line 5-18 to clip me in the front because he kept clipping it wrong. It was frustrating that I had to check my own line each time. If I was assuming and trusting and not paying attention, this could have caused me to think I could stop myself and that not occurring. Water was provided a few times during this, which was much appreciated. The only bathroom you will see for a while are port-a potties so go before you zip line and don’t drink a lot if you won’t use a port-a potty.I would recommend one of those light backpacks so you can take your phone or camera and other items throughout the day because we only saw our car towards the end. When we got to the ATVs it didn’t seem like the tour was as long as what I was expecting. It was okay though. Some groups got very muddy, so be prepared for that. They also didn’t have enough ATVs for us all to ride on our own, so also be aware. He did give us both time to be in front though. Right after that, we had lunch at picnic tables. Lunch was the hamburgers, hot dogs, beans in a can, and fruity flavored soda and bottled water, and limited cheese slices for the burgers. The port-a-potty in this area was repulsive and could use a good cleaning. Someone had peed on the floor, there was poop in the stall, it obviously smelled horrid, and no toilet paper or hand sanitizer (this is where you will be eating, and we couldn’t wash our hands after the ATVs where we were muddy except with bottled water they had for lunch). After lunch we went horseback riding which was cut extremely short since our zip line tour took much longer. They took a while to get everyone on the right horse for the right height. However, this didn’t much bother me since the guides on this part were extremely nice and helpful. I was frustrated at the length of time we got to horseback ride because of the zip tour length though. After the horseback riding we were taken back to the lobby and at this point we used the regular restroom and had a moment to go back to our cars. However, the toilet clogged while some of our group was there and they spent over half an hour trying to unclog it while we just sat there. By then it looked like it might rain and we had to ask if we were going canoeing or not. Someone that doesn’t normally do the canoe float took us down to the water and said it was up to us if we wanted to go due to the fact it may rain if we canoe longer than an hour and a half. We all chose to go hoping to beat the rain. The rain turned out not to be the problem really.. it was more the fact that the river was so low we ended up dragging our canoe at least half the way.. very very frustrating. It turns out they said after the fact they tried to tell someone not to send us out but they couldn’t reach the person who sent us out. This doesn’t make sense to me since we spent over half an hour in the lobby of their place. Also, since this wasn’t the person that normally took people down to the water, we had to hear about how frustrated that worker was that he had to do someone else’s job. So unprofessional. He didn’t give us any instruction. Someone said umm.. we have never been on the water before, what do we do before you just send us out. I could tell they were very frustrated especially since no one told us we wouldn’t have a guide with us on the ride. Be aware of this, you will be sent out alone and they will pick you up after you are done. After we finally made it, we met a worker at the boat ramp. He was extremely rude, calling part of our group curse words and then texting and driving in the rain, and cursing in general about a football game. I hope that they get their issues resolved because this place has potential. We didn’t let it ruin our day, we tried to make the best of it and have fun, especially because we paid $130 a person. Also, what they don’t tell you is that tax is not included and nowhere does it say that. We were thinking it was included in the flat rate. The zip lines are set up in beautiful areas, especially the second to last zip line.. breathtaking.
First time that my aunt & I had ever zip lined. We did 2 different zip lines over water &through trees. It was sooo much fun, wish we had done their longer adventure. Check it out people, great fun!!
Over priced activity for the family. Poorly maintained trails. Two of the ziplines were really passage lines, not ziplines. Guides were not interactive with guests and spent the entire time visiting with one another and playing on their phones. They offered and had no knowledge when asked about the property, the company, facts and tidbits about the area.
The Zip Line was awesome and the guides were too. Great place to go! Price was right and we will go back.
My new husband & I came here on our honeymoon. We actually stayed a extra day just to do this trip and I'm so glad we did! We did the all day package & couldn't have asked for better company or guides! Everyone was fun and helpful! Can't wait to take our kids!
2-person crew was fun, knowledgeable, and extremely safety-conscious. We had a blast! Far exceeded our expectations!
We had been planning a trip to RA for some time. I can tell you we weren't disappointed. We did the full day adventure which consisted of horseback riding, ATV riding, zip-lining, and canoeing. The staff are friendly (except for a cowboy guy who was one of our guides while riding horses, he was a jerk). The activities are well organized and the guides are experienced for their age. We met some great people and had a blast. We will definitely be back in the future.
