We stayed in the hotel one night and that was a great idea. We went to the casino at 9:15PM and didn't leave until 2AM we were having so much fun. They have $5 and $3 Blackjack tables we played at and the dealers were helpful, friendly and hilarious. The casino also had a non-smoking area. This casino is much smaller than Mystic Lake and I prefer that one but this Mille Lacs wasn't bad at all. We ate at Plums in the casino and the food was great.
Hotels are quiet, clean, comfortable. The retaurant, buffet, and quick food venues are all excellent.
This past week we dined at the Grand Casino Grill Restaurant twice! The prices were beyond amazing and the food was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend. The parking lot is huge, but they do have valet parking, so that's not even an issue. If you have trouble walking, you might want to bring a walker or wheelchair as the Grill is quite far from the entrances but the prices and food make it worthwhile!
Went here with a group of cousins for a reunion. Rooms are very nice and the grand northern grill has awesome staff. Extremely friendly. Prices are reasonable. In general this is our favorite casino because people are friendly.
My wife and I attended the Willie Nelson concert on August 8, 2014. The staff made a big deal about the camera my wife was using (Canon EOS Rebel T3i). First of all the sign outside the concert room said that no video or audio recordings were allowed. The sign said nothing about photography cameras. Our tickets that we printed off the internet didn't mention any policy regarding camera use. The casino's website had no policy listed about cameras. So basically there was no policy listed anywhere about the use of cameras inside the concert venue. If the casino really did have a policy about certain cameras being disallowed they obviously did a lousy job of making it known in advance. As my wife and I had our tickets scanned while we were entering the venue the person scanning the tickets clearly saw that we had a camera. That person said nothing about a camera policy. As my wife was snapping photos of the concert some lady that looked like she might have been a member of management raised a stink about the camera. She said that it was disallowed because it was a "big" camera. My wife asked how it was classified as a big camera. The casino employee (who was rude as hell) threatened to ask my wife to leave if she wouldn't comply with the camera policy. My wife did stop using the camera after she was told that it wasn't allowed. She simply asked why it was considered a big camera. The employee was obviously on a "say what I want to hear" power trip. The employee also tried saying that it was the artist's policy that the type of camera my wife had was not allowed. At the end of this review I will post a link to Willie Nelson's tour rider. There is no mention of a camera policy in that copy of the rider. Now I'm not saying that I'm 100% sure that Willie has no camera policy. I will say that it's debatable whether or not he has such a policy since it's not mentioned in his tour rider. After the concert my wife and I got the hell out of the casino. We didn't even stay to eat or gamble. Also we donated our printed tickets to another patron. I think the tickets had some kind of dining discount listed on them. My wife and I drove about 3 1/2 hours just to attend the concert. It was disappointing that my wife had to put up with such unreasonable crap. We will never go back to this casino.http://www.thesmokinggun.com/backstage/country/willie-nelson-0#lightbox-popup-1
We go up to the casino every few months. We pass Hinckley on our way Mille Lacs. Our favorite was the steakhouse. Best steaks around. When we went there this weekend we were told the steakhouse had closed. The buffet was disappointing. The slots were not paying out enough to keep us interested. But the room was clean and comfortable. We will save on gas now, we can eat at home, go play for a bit, and be back in our own bed. Will miss those steaks.
A very friendly reservation clerk assisted me in using a, many, years old certificate for a free night's stay, and even gave us a free upgrade to a king bed! But that wasn't the case when I spoke with someone else about using a food certificate. He obviously didn't feel his job should include any sense of customer service or diplomacy, though he did eventually arrange for an exchange. We were welcomed by a very nice registration lady & a bellboy who offered to fetch a luggage cart. Our room was clean and comfortable, our breakfast at the Grill was very good, and our waitress was a real sweetie! Unfortunately, I received a very disrespectful call from the guy who dealt with the food cert, a couple days later! I couldn't believe that one person could turn such a fun visit into an event that I felt I needed to complain about! And, I did.I placed a call to the VP of operations, who was genuinely shocked, and assured me that "We don't treat our guests that way". And he reinforced his statement with an offer to "make it right", if we would visit them again! He offered an upgraded room for a weeknight stay or a free regular room on a weekend, which was way more than expected. So, because of one person, I rated this stay very good, instead of excellent!
We have gone here several times and enjoy the food, atmosphere, drinks and entertainment. If you like casino's and a friendly atmosphere, this is the place to go. We have stayed over in the hotel as well and the room was great, clean, comfortable and very reasonably priced. We do not go to casinos too often but when we do travel to Mille Lacs Lake, we will make a stop here for some food and a nice place to stay.
I ate at the Grand Northern Grill at the casino. During the month of July they serve a 16-ounce cut of prime rib with a baked potato, vegetable, and a dinner roll . This was the best prime rib I have ever had. Done to perfection! And since I had gotten a grand rewards card I only paid $7.77. Without the card it is $11.77, and I would gladly pay that price for it a well. Stayed in the hotel and have no complaints. The room is clean, window overlooking the lake, and also a microwave.
Enjoyed the casino and they seem to control the smokey atmosphere. Great location to add some adult fun while vacationing on Mille lacs.
