Although it's a bit away from the Las Colinas district, the Irving Convention Center is impressive. We have attended many varied events here over the years and have not once been disappointed.
Attending an all-day work meeting. Nice breakfast buffet and okay lunch. Good place for a business meeting and convention.
I attended the SciFi Expo at the Irving Convention Center. The event was very crowded with many lines and manned by volunteers. The facility itself is OK, but I would have to say that the food in the cafe was not a good quality and was over-priced. It also seemed like there was inadequate indoor seating at the cafe and they ran out of serveral food and drink items before the convention was over. I stayed at the nearby Marriott and walked to the convention, in part to avoid parking, which was also over-priced and had long lines, to then be parked in open fields. There were also lines for the escalator. So, it appears that perhaps the crowd was too large for the facility. The decor is very modern and spartan. Bathrooms facilities were plentiful and fairly clean, as was the rest of the facility.
I went for the Home and Garden Show. I live in Irving and never thought that the Convention Center was a building that peaked my interest...at all. The exterior is dark and strange at best. I didn't understand it at all. Now that I have been inside I realize now that it's all about the interior. Of course the showroom area is gymnasium-esque just like all convention centers are. However, the lobby area and common space outside were excellent. I took several pictures of the light just coming through the windows. From the outside you still may not 'get it'. But if you have the opportunity to pop in and check it out, I highly recommend it.
Traveled here for a men's physique competition I was in, very nice place. It is really roomy and parking garage located next door to it for easy access.
It's a lovely, well-kept convention center with great tech help, and decent wifi. The only complaint is that for an all-day event, it would really benefit from having a place to eat a decent lunch. The cafeteria menu was really limited.
This convention center is very modern and nice looking structure. Very good for small event. close to many hotel and restaurant.
WE were in the convention center for a gymnastic meet and the facility was beautiful and wellkept, it was setup extremely well for the competition. My only complaint was for the price andquality of the food service, $6 for terrible tasting popcorn and $3 for medium size fountain cokeseemed excessive. If the popcorn had been good and the fountain drink larger it would haveseemed more reasonable. Work on your food vendor for better quality and value
I love the look of the building from the highway. It has a very neat look about it. The inside is roomy and spacious. I have been countless times for the Comic Con events that happen annually in October and February. It isn't large enough for these events though. The last one we went to we were packed in like sardines.
I was quite impressed at the high level of food offered which was a lot healthier than you usually see at conferences
