A day trip across the border from Indiana to treat two young children to a fantastic play park in the downtown and on the Ohio River. The unique neighbouring water fountains, the stage area featured a mass men's choir singing. A new convention center has been built and hotels are being added. The downtown building have preserved old architecture and we concluded the visit with a treat at the Cold Stone Creanery.
The Riverfront Park in Owensboro, KY is a great river/green space for everyone. Young children, Young lovers, and old lovers will find this a great place to stop and watch. The music venues on weekends in the summer along with sometime street musicians and the BBQ festival make this a wonderful area in the summer. Even in the cold of winter a short sit and contemplation of the Ohio River can be invigorating and clear your mind of holiday hustles and bustles. Nearby cafes and bistros are a short walk.
Went an hour away to Owensboro to rescue a puppy from Sparkys and picked up some bbq... Looking for a place to eat, outside of the car. Just Wow!!! What a find.....overlooking the Ohio river, tables riverside, dog friendly, family friendly goodness!!! Music generated throughout park and at center a huge child haven fun fest with CLEAN facilities at center!!! Just amazed.....do NOT skip this free park......
This is a great stop when in Owensboro. You can enjoy the park area and timed fountains. The stepped waterfall into the river was nice to wait and watch. Great place during the day and later in the evening when the lights are on around the park.
The park is new and great for a stroll along Ohio River. They have a nice playground for children and is conveniently located in the downtown area.
It's on the river, has water fountain features, a playground and splash park to go nuts for! Perfect for a power walk or leisurely stroll. They have bench swings looking over the river and plenty of places to sit and look at all of the beautiful landscaping! A true oasis in the reconstruction and refurbishing of Owensboro!!
Title says it. Came in to town late and found this park while running the riverfront. It is so awesome. Lots of swinging chairs along the river maybe the coolest playground I've ever seen. You owe it to yourself to check it out if your in town.
Many in the community (myself included) think too much money was spent on the development, and the cost for upkeep, but it is beautiful. The fountains are wonderful. There is usually a policeman on duty which is nice. Parking is an issue during the summer especially when other events are going on downtown. The children's play area is huge and includes a spray area. There are a couple of grassy areas for walking the dog. There are nice restroom facilities. We go down frequently whenever the weather is nice, but we did this even before the development. I really miss the old trees that were done away with. It is a nice, safe area to get out and enjoy the river view. There are several good restaurants in the area. There are some nice shops on second street. You can spend a nice afternoon in downtown Owensboro.
have not been there in years but boy it changed for the best/kids loves it/have been back several times and we all enjoy it each time
We discovered this great park by coincidence while having our honeymoon. This park is beatiful and needs to be visited by more people to get the attention it deserves.
