When i got in Paraty , i was at Chelagarto and meet 2 guys ( Zé and Wagner) who work for Paraty by Locals. They're preety much , a bunch of tour guides , who got together and set up great tours as this one i'm talking about. We get off the hostel at 9am and got the bus to Laranjeiras , from there we got a Campervan inside to condominium to the port , from there we went on a boat all the way to Ponta Negra , where we get off and chill for a wile, after we go to the Gaietas waterfall (chill a bit) and to Antiguinhos beach to relax on this desert paradise, another desert beach call Antigos and a fun walk to Sono for a great and taste lunch , chill and get another boat back to the port of Laranjeiras , to get the Campervan and the bus back to Paraty.I'll won't be kidding , if i tell you that was my best day ever
All the pousadas and 'guides' go on about this place as a 'tour with a rainforest walk', etc. But the reality is that this is just a very average scruffy beach with many concrete bars (often closed/empty) strewn with debris (naturally, rotten organic material from the trees), and rubbish from the trekkers. There are many many better beaches to explore here.
Beautiful, very local and pretty deserted beach. You have two ways to get there. We drove to this very expensive looking villa complex and asked at the security gates for a boat to take us to Sono beach. It cost 40 reals each for a return journey. We then had to park our car and then get in a van, go through the villa complex (past the golf course!) to the jetty where we had a reasonably bumpy ride to the beach. You can also leave your car (they charge 55 reals for that!) and walk about 40 mins to an hour through the rainforest to the beach. We didn't do that, but it sounded nice and some people have seen monkeys and toucans while doing that.
This is the best beach in the region. A one hour walk, in a low difficult trail, will take you to a paradisiac beach, with few people, lots of green, plenty of space in the sand to lay down and relax, looking at the beautiful ocean. It is definitely worth it. If you'd like, you can do another half an hour trail, but a harder one, to Antigos beach, at the end of Sono. Important: take an insect repellent, as you'll spend at least two hours inside the woods
I was there for new year's eve and camping!!! the best point of this beach is that you can only access it by boat (25R$/px) or by a 1h hike after a 1h bus trip to Laranjeras. Very lovey place to go, with waterfalls as well...I RECOMEND this place
Beautiful beach with trees behind for shade - a few little shacks selling seafood etc. better still get the boatman to take you round the next headlands to antigos and antiguinhos beaches - deserted, nothing there but a few hardcore surfer boys. Take your own water - there's plenty of tree shade at the back of the beach. Antiguinhos is even better - your own!And then beyond the next headland is ponta negra beach - awesome little hippy hideaway with a shack or two for drinks and food.
This beach can be reached by boat or by 1hr hike, the hike is more rewarding as you got to see the full beach view from the top. Going down to the beach, you would feel you own the beach to yourself (only few people on the beach), the clear blue water, the rocks and the green of the mountain view is just fantastic. From this beach you can continue to hike to Antigos, another beautiful and secluded beach and you can follow the trails all the way up to ponta negra to witness another breathtaking view. What an amazing and memorable trip for me. Go with a guide if you want to take this trails up to Ponta Negra as you will go deep to the forest, it is not too difficult and definitelly really rewarding. I did the trails with Jorge (www.espiritolivre.net), he knows the area so well and definitelly will make sure you have a great time.
Praia linda, quase deserta (pós-carnaval). Vale a pena passar o dia neste local lindo.
To get to this beach you have to either come by boat or you can do what we did. Get the bus from Paraty and then walk nearly one hour to the beach through woods. It is a great walk and a great start to the day. The beach is lovely and quite quiet. After a few hours on the beach we ate lunch at a restaurant run by two ladies (there are only a couple of restaurants) We had a really nice fish stew and I would recommend it.You can either walk back to the bus or get a boat back to another place nearer the bus stop.
