The tour departs from the dock right next to the beach at Perros-Guirec and is reasonably priced. We went in June 2014 so we did not have to book ahead (may need to do so in high season). The tour is about two and a half hours long and they give you a 30 minute excursion on the Ile des Moines, which has a lighthouse and ruined fort as well as some wildlife to see. There are 27 species of nesting birds on the islands and grey seals that are year round inhabitants.
What a great way to see the huge colony of Gannets nesting on the islands. Also, many other seabirds to be seen. As birdwatchers we were delighted. A sunny morning certainly added to the enjoyment.
Being on the water is always fun, but the whole trip appeared to be about seeing birds. The man who explained what we saw, did so in French, of which we didn't understand much. Also mind that there are no safety measures for children (should they happen to fall in the water). So keep them very close!
We speak only a little French and so booked the French-speaking tour with some trepidation (only English tour is Weds morning), but we didn't miss the English explanations much. The sights spoke for themselves, especially on this 2.5 hr tour that involved the Seven Isles with a stop to walk around on land on the main settled isle for ~45 minutes. We saw resting seals, plenty of assorted seabirds, stunning islands that seem almost untouched, and then the real mind-blowing site which was the gannet colony, which seems topped with snow from afar but is crowded with thousands of gannets, which then fly around the boat like a snowstorm... not to be missed! Our tour was in August which might not be the best season (peak bird breeding is probably in late winter-spring?), but we still felt happy and were lucky with good weather and calm seas. Watch your weather forecast before booking though, and bring layers of clothing because it gets cold -- but get on the top deck of the boat if you can, to see more!
Sortie vraiment sympa.
This trip is just wonderful. The seven islands, which are not really seven by the way, are visited with a big boat, but very closely. They make use of the tide to then wonder around the granite coast and show it's peculiarities. The commentary is excellent and the birds are numerous and beautiful. I went with a fairly bad weather, it had stopped raining but was far from being sunny - the animals do not care anyways, so go also of the weather is not amazing, unless you can just postpone it.
Well worth going on this trip. The boats are very modern and in good condition. We took the 2 hour trip where you don't get off, and that was fine. The boat got very close to the island where we were able to get great photos of the birds, including puffins and seals.
