This gem of a museum is one of those places you can appreciate as an adult, but bringing a child or grandchild is just so special. They can explore little nooks with costumes, musical instruments and puppets just to name a few. Just being exposed to so many of the world cultures is wonderful as an adult, but the little ones gain so much from visiting here.We live over an hour away, and it is worth the trip. Do check out their website!
Volunteers were very knowledgeable, friendly. Didn't have time for full tour, but next time will make sure we do.
went with my daughters and 2 grandchildren ages 2 and 11. lots of colorful, interesting and well captioned artifacts, many of them available for wearing, touching, playing and pretending. friendly, informed staff, light and airy building in a charming new england town.
Very well thought out exhibits with a plethora of hands-on, interactive stations for children and adults. We visited while the "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" exhibit was going on, which outlined the history of chocolate making and the current state of the industry, complete with cacao beans for smelling, chocolate for tasting, and a Willy Wonka inventing room for kids to have some hands on fun. Highly recommend if you are in the Peterborough area!
A small gem, with exhibits from several parts of the world, well displayed and documented. This is a good stop that can take an hour or two, with something interesting for all ages.
Extraordinary Museum experience. A completely unique examination of world culture and experience through an amazing, eclectic collection of artifacts, textiles, music, visual art. performance. Nothing like it.
Cute little museum with ever changing themes for children. Lots to do and some hands on stuff too. My grandchildren love to visit when they come to visit.
On the expensive side to enter if you have to pay full price (residents could check out a free pass from the town library the last time we went), but they sometimes have free events, and the place is wonderful. So much to see and do. I especially like the musical instruments from around the world upstairs. So did my young daughter. Lots aimed for kids besides that, including puppets in a little theater and dress-up clothes. A jewel in Our Town's crown.
I don't know if I can say anything about the Mariposa Museum, It has to be experienced. If you are an inquisitive person who loves beautiful things, you'll love it here.
The building itself is worth checking out, but they also have fun unusual events and displays. Well worth a visit.
