Picnic area, wonderful playground for kids with a great rope climbing apparatlus. Great hiking/biking paths. It also has a boat launch for Medicine Lake.
This is great place to take kids and during the summer we have been there too and so much to do and no cost....
French regional park sits on the North Shore of Medicine Lake. It has a wonderful and huge rope maze in the summer, great beach area with bathrooms, concessions and kayak/canoe rentals. There are great picnic area's to be rented as well as nice paved bike paths. In the winter months they have cross country ski trails and rentals, which are well maintained through the park system, overall and wonderful place!
I've been to the park 4 times so far with friends and family. At all occasions, the grass was cut and the play area clean.
French park is a great area park with open spaces, as well as many walking paths through trees and along the lake. It's a great place for a picnic in the summer, or just to get out of the hustle and bustle during the day!
There is a large sledding hill across from the main building. It's super fun for the kids. The first time down was kind of scary, as it is a large hill, but the kids loved it!The kids (and adults) get a good workout, since they have to climb back up the hill each time. We like to come here on days the kids have off from school.I have yet to come during the summer months and go hiking. It's on my agenda for next summer.
My family have been going to French Park for over twenty years. The play area is showing it's age but as for nature, it nice to walk in the park. Beware hide your valuable as there seems to be a lot of auto break ins.
French Regional Park is a great place to hike, cross-country ski, or explore via kayak and canoe. We go there year round. There is also an excellent large playground with lots of things for kids to climb. Most recently we went there for a fall hike.
French Regional Park is beautiful! Perfect for picnics, a nice stroll, jogging/hiking or fishing. There is also a large playground there that kids LOVE! I like that its so open and away from the busy streets. The wooded trails are quiet and peaceful and the views are gorgeous. Parking is not the best but during the summer there is a shuttle that will pick you up from one of the parking lots and drive you down to the picnic and beach area!
Spent a full day here for a work retreat, using the outstanding meeting room on the upper level of the main building. Room has comfortable furnishings, a fireplace, and kitchenette. Terrific views of forested surroundings. The park building is otherwise small, but comfortable for a break from activities.Over 14 miles of hiking and skiing trails; I sampled several miles on a cool, overcast October afternoon - the Fall colors, falling leaves, and brisk air were enjoyable walking through the woods and along a lake.Spectucular climbing/play area for kids next to the main building - lots of young kids and parents enjoying this.Although closed for the season, I did walk by the beach area, which looks nice, with good facilities. Boat and canoe rentals are available. The fact that a shuttle from a secondary parking lot is needed suggests that this is a very busy place during the summer.Keep in mind that this park is surrounded by a fully developed suburb, so the only sense of solitude is going to be on the hiking/skiing trails.
