I love this beach. I grew up with this beach. We go there a few times a year. It has hiking trails, a large parking area and plenty of places to sit on the beach. It never feels crowded. It's dog friendly and great for taking a long walk down the beach. The water is cold, wading is enough. The wind picks up in the afternoon. We always take a picnic lunch. The drive out to the beach is beautiful and relaxing.
Came here as we traveled with our two dogs. Kids had a great time.. not crowded at all. Saw some seals... Surf a little strong so watch the kiddos!
While it is a good 45 minute drive from the visitor center, once there the beach is easy to access from the parking lot. It is a long, wide, flat beach that allows dogs on leash - and picked up after. Stay away from the cliffs - both the tops and bottoms of the cliffs can be dangerous due to landslides, especially in winter when the ground gets water logged and causes regular slides. No services except restrooms, so bring your picnic and any other supplies.
I started and ended my day on this beach. It was dead quiet both times I was there. Unfortunately I was not well equipped for the beach as I had my bicycle with me. In the evening when the sun was starting to set I did get my bike onto the hard packed sand. I cycled down along the beach and had some dolphins follow me, swimming in the waves along side me for quite some distance. I didn't see any seals, but somebody said to me to look out for seals.
Great beach for the family to walk and play on. Worth the drive. Amazing view from the beach. We enjoyed walking up and down and playing in the sand.
We had a drive north of San Francisco to enjoy fresh oysters. On the way back we drove to Limantour beach, parked our car and walked for 10 minutes to the beach. The scenery is absolute fabulous! The wind, the smell and the sound from the ocean. In case you're in the area, make the drive there to enjoy & relax for some time.
The beach is clean and while it is windy, it is so much more protected compared to the other beaches. We were able to obtain a fire permit and had a bon fire at night which was absolutely wonderful!
This beach is only 10 minutes from Point Reyes Station. You can take your dog to the left of the parking area-but be mindful that they must be on leash. The rangers will issue expensive tickets. I know-I got one!
What a beautiful beach. We went on a Monday in mid-September. The place was practically deserted despite the beautiful weather. While walking down and back (maybe three miles each direction) we only encountered about 10 other people. Amazing that this beautiful stretch of long beach is so unused. I’m glad a friend brought me there. It’s a place I’ll go back to on a nice warm sunny non-weekend day.
This place is honestly amazing. The ocean bluffs are simply spectacular and we saw 4 seals!. It's a great place to fly kites too
