We went around the trail in about 1.5 hours with flip flops, so it's definitely an easy hike for people of all fitness levels.
Mid-week this is a great place to walk a dog. Lots of parking. Peaceful. Nice way to start the day or week. Fishing available on the bridge for those who like a challenge.
I enjoyed everything about this lake - so pretty. There is a walking trail that loops around the lake called the Sasamat loop trail. It is really nice to see the lake from all angles.
This lake is amazing! But sooooooooooo busy during the summer months that we now avoid it during the weekends. If you want to get parking on a weekend in the summer good luck! You need to be there basically at the crack of dawn if you want parking within the park. Otherwise you will be on the street and walking for awhile or you can park behind the lake and walk in that way. The cops are usually there during the peak times as there tends to be people bringing in booze and drinking out on the lake. But the water is warm and the lake is small enough you can swim across if your a swimmer. The lake is beautiful during the off season. It's tucked away in the trees and very peaceful to walk around. But be warned if you are going on a warm summer weekend you will be in a massive crowd of people and fighting for parking!
sasamat lake is really beautiful and peaceful lake especially during spring and fall!! during the summer this lake is so warm that families come with children for swimming and picnic!!!! the beach is very nice has a lot of picnic tables! lake is very pictures!!! you can do easy hike around the lake! you will enjoy it! bring your camera! dog friendly!
This is an amazing location to visit that is so close to Vancouver. The beautiful lake and mountain views are spectacular. Great location for a family picnic. Clean washrooms on site contribute to the experience.
I have been to this lake / beach last summer. It is amazing sandy beach with relatively warm water great for swimming. It is quite busy over the hot weekend in summer time though.
Crowds in early summer months are going to be busy between 11 - 3pm..the water is really warm you can swim across it or just float around in a canoe or floaty thing. You can hike around the lake if you wish or fish for some small trout. If you get there at peak times be prepared to hike in a ways!
Lake Water, and man made sandy beach - what more can you ask for? This beach is only 45 mins-1 hour out from East Vancouver so it's an easier drive than Harrison or Cultus. The parking lot fills up around 10 am so if you really want to be able to park closer to the beach you need to arrive at like 8 am which is kind of annoying, the lot isn't that big and there's only one designated parking lot so if it fills up they close the gates and you end up parking along the road leading up to the parking lot and the walk is about 1.8 - 2 km into the beach. There's a trail on the left hand side that takes you to the main beaches but it's about 15 minute walk along the lake - plus side it has trees and shade so on a hot day it kind of helps make the walk a little more pleasant. There are two beaches, the first one is smaller and doesn't have a concession - this one seemed to be filled with more children and families. If you keep walking past the public washroom you will end up at the larger beach where there is concession and two levels (the sandy beach and the gravel area) and there are picnic tables you can set up at if you plan to bbq or want to sit. This larger beach looked like there were less kids and more adults. The water is very warm relative to other lakes (buntzen) and with all the people it warms up as the sun moves right above you. Washrooms are well maintained and there is a drinking fountain right outside the washroom so bring a water bottle so you can stay hydrated.
This is a beautiful beach in the summer and the water is warm. The beach is at Sasamat Lake - a small lake near Port Moody. There are trails around the area for walks and hiking. The parking lot fills up early and they close the gates so come early on nice days, especially on weekends. There is a transit bus that has a stop at the beach. It is TransLink bus route 150 - White Pine Beach which leaves from Coquitlam station.
