You really have to be kidding with this new venture. We have enjoyed the Sun Cruz Casino boat in the past, despite antiquated slot machines. This "new" Tropical Breeze was anything but. First of all, they never explained the "offer", or lack thereof when you paid $8. to board. We did get a coupon for 1 free cocktail and were told we could buy lunch on board. Getting on the boat, we were surprised to find that this was no longer a shuttle out to the casino ship, but where we would gamble for the trip. The boat left at 11:20, due to the tides. We did not get out into international water to gamble until almost 1 o'clock. Almost 1 hour and 45 minutes. Since I usually play a poker machine, I find out there were only 6 onboard, one of which was out of service! I ordered a cheeseburger for lunch, and it took 50 minutes to arrive. Paper thin and dried out. the seagulls wouldn't even want it. Oh, and one of two stalls in the ladies room was out of service. Gross! The boat started back at 4pm and we did not arrive on the dock until after 6 pm! Yikes! What a horror! Party of five, and no one even won a buck! Save your money! This was a disaster!
Wanted to take this cruise for a couple of years. Finally went out and first of all found out that the ship was a much smaller one than they used to use. Not enough interest I was told by a person that worked there. Thank god there was a limit of 125 people and only 60 some went on board. Very, very, crowded and smokey. If you don't smoke stay away. Very old slot machines most of them the same and printed tickets but could not put into machine after that. Had to cash in and use the cash. Old old ship, dirty, smokey, unappealing and uncomfortable. Certainly not what we expectted for sure and will not return or recommend to anyone. I felt sorry for a couple of handicaped people as they had a very hard time getting around. Probably shouldn't have gone anyway. Very rocky and noisy boat. I can see why not many people go on this casino cruise. Sorry, very bag!
To say the least , just terrible. No management, only one tech slot tech & he quit, Have to pay for your trip out to the boat ( $8.00 ), one free drink, you have to pay for a sandwich, minimum slat pay offs ( if you happen to hit a lucky streak ) And last, using their Global Check Cashing System is a rip off, cash a $500 dollar check out the on 30 November & I discovered I was charged twice, $1100 dollars & I still have not been able to contact anyone to get my $530 dollars back. So, beware....
The sign out front said something like "Vegas Style Casino" or something like that. Well I have been to Vegas many of times and that is the most horrible description for this boat. Lets compare shall we:1. Free Drinks in Vegas..... 2 dollars for a sip of beer on the boat2. Clean.... This boat is DIRTY3. Machines are newer in Vegas..... I am pretty sure i played the same slot machines in 1975 that were on the boat. 4. Clean people in Vegas.... I thought I was on a charter boat for fishing and the crew had not showered or even brushed their teeth for a month on the boat. 5. Vegas 1987654 people on a Saturday Night.... 40 people on this boat.6. Tables for everyone to be able to play in Vegas.... They had 2 BJ tables and a roulette table open and all were packed, got the voucher to play on the tables and for 3.5 hours, couldn't even get on a table so that was wasted. So in closing, this was the most falsely advertised, waste of 5 hours I have ever spent. I actually won money on the outdated slot machines BUT fun is a factor as well and there was NONE OF THAT.
I took my third trip with Sun Cruz in January, 2015 and it will be my last!! They now have a “new” Casino boat. The boat is small, cramped and has a horrible choice of slot machines. You can’t even walk down the aisle without bumping into another person. People with walkers are doomed on this casino boat. Match play, early week promotions (web site still shows they have the promotions) and a free sandwich no longer exist with the boarding fee. Cashing in tickets prior to the return trip is absurd. No line can be formed and you are literally shoulder-to-shoulder with guests trying to go back downstairs. I talked with several people and none said they would ever come back. They also said that they would fight the horrible traffic in Tampa to go to another casino. I e-mailed SunCruz voicing my opinion and they never responded. Not a great way to run a business. Word of mouth advertising is the best (and worst) in my opinion. Ownership made a HUGE mistake by not renovating the old boat in lieu of purchasing this new one.
We had the honor of being on the "new" boat. Peeling paint, dirty, looked like it would fall apart. Staff was rude because everyone complained. Most of Machines are broken or broke if you used them. Payouts (small ones) where in voucher form that none of the machines took vouchers so you has to go to the cashier everytime. When you play 9 lines the machines only count 5 lines so winning go unrecognized. On the boat ride back I asked every person I could (20 people)if they had fun. Not one said yes. They all said "I will never come back."
old boat was not the best. new boat is a joke!!!the shuttle is bigger than the new casino boat. very little room on boat.you have to squeese around machines, and people. If you use a cane or walker don"t go.they will not honor you old tokens. no ac ,and smoke was terrible!! i have been going since 2001 with friends. would be embarrased to bring anyone now. first and last trip on new boat. you just lost some good customers with your poor casino and service
We went out on the Tropical Breeze a couple of weeks ago and had a great time! Drinks were very cheap compared to hard rock, $3.00 for a 16oz can of Budweiser and $3.00 for a Rum and coke. We had delicious cheeseburgers with chips for $5.00, Can't beat that anywhere! The slot machines are great, My wife hit a $1500 jackpot! We really like the ticket in and out system. All of the employees were happy and very nice. We will always choose to go on the boat over going to the Hardrock!
I love to gamble and it was amazing compared to the old boat! No more coins!! All tickets! Gambling and bud light along with the beautiful view of the ocean! Who can complain!
We have gambled out on the Suncruz casino boat about a dozen times in the past. Never expecting anything grand as its an older boat but you are out there to gamble and that's what the original ship provided. A sizable amount of space for slot machines and table gambling alike, with a variety of machines to play on. You also received Free $5 match play Free food item and complimentary beer, liquor and wine while you were gambling-you know Vegas style. This was all for the low cost of only $5 to enter. We hadn't been on the boat for about a year and were looking forward to avoiding the drive and craziness of the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa. We were surprised that the entrance fee went up to $8 with none of the above mentioned freebies instead to accompany the upcharge we were given a coupon for 1 free drink! That's right, no more free drinks. We were going to leave but the employee explained its because they have a new ship and its more expensive then their previous run down one we were use to. So in hopes of a new shiny boat to spend the next 4 hours on we paid the fee and took the water taxi. The new ship is less then half the size of the original with literally not enough room for 2 people to pass each other in any one area. The variety of slots were down to 5 different types of machines with about 75% of what was their being the same type of machine over and over again. The best part was the tiny little bar where you had to now purchase your drinks at $3 each only because of the friendly bar tender, and the top open deck where you could escape the tight quarters and very warm temperatures.
