Patagonia has been on my bucket list for a long time and our time at Torres del Paine brought the Patagonia of my dreams to life. We went on a tour organized by our hotel in Puerto Notales, and had very knowledgeable and attentive guides but there is no way to experience this place without being blown away by its magic. Summer meant sporadic rains and high winds, but the temperatures were comfortable. Our beautiful planet has never looked better to me than when we were in this amazing, peaceful place.
The W trek is amazing. I did this solo but stayed in the Refugio and buying breakfast/dinner. Lunch was usually given to me by others because the portions were so large. Plan for random Patagonian weather. Dress in layers. I had more rainy days than sunny, and even when it was dry, it would randomly start raining for several minutes and then stop again. It would be hot and then the sun would be clouded and the winds pick up, and then you're chilly and ready to throw on some extra layers. For being Chile's première trek, portions of the trail appear to be in poor condition (those portions not caused by disrespectful hikers hiking off trial and adding to the severe erosion). I'm referring to the wooden walkways that are destroyed, or feeling like they will break the moment you step on it. Be careful stepping on them, or you twist your ankle or worse if they finally give way. Enjoy the moment with fellow trekkers during meal time, and don't forget to say "hola" to others as they hike past.
4 hr hike to Base Los Torres is fantastic, but can be extremely busy during good weather. If you need a park permit, you should go early to avoid huge bottleneck and chaos at park office to obtain the pass and view safety video.
GO TO TORRES DEL PAINE. One of the most stunning places I've ever been. The most beautiful place for walking with such diverse scenery. The paths are incredibly well-marked and the refugios brilliant. You'll never forget your trip to Torres Del Paine!
It is a park of amaizing natural beauty! We did the whole "O" circuit with a couple of friends and had a great time! Some may say that facilities could be better, but on the other hand building to much in the place might kill the feeling that you get on being in a natural and well preserved surrounding.Very recommendable for someone looking for an outdoors backpacking adventure!
The Torres del Paine parc is a fantatsic place for walking and travelling around. For us it was the main attraction of Patagonia.
We did the w in4 days, staying at paine grande, cabanas Los cuernos, and hotel las Torres. We were unaware of Refugio Frances, an option the would have made the britanico hike easier. The trail is very popular, so book early. Easy trail to follow. Be prepared for frequent weather and clothing changes. Viewpoints are spectacular but strong winds do not encourage sitting around to enjoy them
This place is not only beautiful, is clean and gorgeous. We walked every day and drank water from the steams, we didn't get sick. The water is so clean it even taste better. It's windy but amazing and I want all my loved one to come here and see this place. You won't be disappointed.
