It is very shallow for miles in, makes it perfect for small children, as it doesn't have waves as well, but mo fun for adults. Also it is small with private houses right on the beach, there is no privacy at all.
Sapodilla Bay has very calm turquoise water. The water is shallow around knee deep for a long way out. Also, the sand walking out is so soft! Grace Bay and Sapodilla Bay are the two top beaches we visited. This beach is perfect for everyone, especially kids. If you are able to rent kayaks, paddleboards or even bring snorkel gear, this beach is perfect for those activities. Whether you stay for a long time or a little time you will surely fall in love with this beach.
This is a beautiful beach with shallow water for 100 yards or so. That made the water warm and a favorite for my child.
This beach is so tranquil. The water is knee depth for a long while out. Great for children or non swimmers. Just beautiful. Path is not marked on road and is very hard to find. Spots to park rental cars along the side of the road but we did hear it is expensive to take a taxi. Maybe that is why the beach is not very busy. Bring chairs and umbrella. Very little shade on beach but it is well worth the visit. Also bring your own food and drinks. Nothing available on beach but there is a restaurant across the street.
When the weather was rough in Grace Bay, we headed over to Sopadilla and Taylor bay. Wow! Almost no winds and some nice sunbeams despite rain on the other end of the island. Padilla is the smaller of the two beaches a d seems to have more private spaces you cannot sit. Don't miss Sopadilla hill either. A five minute scramble will give you the best views of your trip!
We read reviews of this beach online so we took a day trip to Sapodilla Bay. It was very picturesque, and the knee-deep water extends out about 100 feet from the beach, making it fun for lounge chairs. Their are residences lining the beach, and it is not a tourist spot at all. So, all you get is the beach and the water. If you are looking for seclusion and pack all of your own amenities, then this might be your spot. We got bored after 10 minutes of walking and headed back to Grace Bay.Now, if one was to rent one of the houses on this beach, that could be a fun experience if you're looking for low-key interaction.
very good for swimming for little kids. shall and can walk for a while before it gets deep. far from grace bay. a bit hard too find, you have to park on the side of the road
We love this beach any time, as it is quiet and shallow for a great distance. 13 years ago it was desolate but now a lot of private homes have been developed here, but it's still very laid back and calm.On days when northern winds prevail (which has been prevalent lately [Feb 2015] Grace Bay can get pretty snotty. Sapodilla Bay then becomes your "go-to" beach on the southwest end.
What a great little beach! Much less crowded than the touristy area of Grace Bay. Turquoise waters, soft white sand. PERFECT sand castle sand.
This beach is beautiful! Try to get there early as there are a lot of day visitors. Bring a float. Absolutely perfect for this beach. Also bring lunch and picnic on the abandoned gazebo on the left hill above the construction. What a gorgeous view we had and all by ourselves!!
