It could have been more fun. We felt rushed and the ride felt short -45 minutes all together and half of it was walking by the hotel. The horses were sleepy (I guess that means not dangerous for beginners) and the guides were bored. I was bored! Mosquitoes were very bad--wear long pants and bring bug spray. It was expensive for what it was.
We had the most fabulous day at the stables. Kim was an amazing host. Everyone was so helpful and gentle with the animals. What a great way for the kids to see the horses up close.
We just stopped here for a quick pony ride. Kids thought it was fun, but not that impressive. We've been on much better rides before. This one just went in a small circle 3 times.
Had a great time on this trail ride. It lasts about 45 minutes and goes through the woods. The horses were very socialized and well behaved too. I would highly recommend this activity to anyone (adults too!)
The stables were a lot of fun! They even had a few other barn animals that you could pet. The countryside and trail itself was picturesque and very peaceful. Even saw a flock of wild turkeys in the background. The horses were beautiful! The price was average. The only thing I felt that it was a bit rushed at the beginning of the ride and then again at the end. Not very personable. We had a couple of first time riders and at the beginning they felt uneasy bc not much time was spent with what they were suppose to do. Felt more like a production line. But, the trail ride itself was totally worth it!
We have been to the stables several times, taking advantage of both the trail rides and pony rides. It is such a nice added amenity to the Grand Geneva property overall. They have a simple area with a few animals that children can pet for free and such friendly horses that love to come to the fences to be pet. We like to bring them apples and carrots to feed them. The stables themselves are getting very worn down and the horses appear to need some better grooming but it's my guess, or at least appears, the staff struggles to keep up with the amount of traffic they get through there. The staff is very friendly but very limited. It is definitely worth checking it out!
We happened to notice the stables and decided to stop in and check it out. We were able to schedule a sleigh-ride for the next day and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The ride was phenomenal! Gorgeous scenery!!! We rode a horse drawn sleigh through the snow-covered field and into the woods. We had a blast. The owner was the sleigh-driver and he was a great guy. I'm so glad we had this experience!
My 5yr old daughter had a nice (but brief) pony ride for $8...plus a $5 tip. (there's a sign saying tips are welcome) My 8yr old would've loved a pony ride, but he was too old for that....so he only had the option of a trail ride, which he was too nervous to do (having never been on horses). Would be nice if there were some mid-level options. The petting zoo is pathetic. One sheep, one goat, one donkey, and two pigs. Big let-down there.
I think the trail rides are probably fun, although they sounded a bit pricey. I believe it was $32/person for a 45 minute ride. We purchased a pony ride for our 4 yr old. He had fun, but they just lead the ponies around a pretty small circle 4 times. $2 a lap.....well, ok.
Great place to go for kids and adults. Different events for every holiday. Haunted hayrides for Halloween are great. carriage rides for valentines day and Christmas. they even have a small petting zoo. I go and feed the animals whenever I stay at the grand Geneva resort.
