Great outdoor spot along the Chattahoochee River with native plants and flowers, rescued birds raptors, trails, canoeing, exhibits for all ages. There are also special events and summer camp for kids. I especially recommend it to people who are NOT necessarily outdoor enthusiasts so they can discover how wonderful it is!
Chattahoochee Nature Center is one of the hidden jewels of North Atlanta. If you like to hike or just get out in Nature you will love this place. If you are a nature photographer you will have countless opportunities for photos. The butterfly festival is fantastic. It allows you to get up close with many varieties of butterflies. The price is really reasonable and worth every penny.
We came here with my family while looking for a park to just sit and relax. This place is great for relaxing, enjoying very serene environment and the opportunity to walk or hike the nature trails. The river and canoes and adventure and activity to an already awesome environment. We loved the opportunity and left having relaxed and refreshed.
went for a new year family walking after went thru the kennesaw battle ground state park climbing. there is an admission req'd at $10/person,kind of surprize. the few trails are nice, weather are windy.sky lab are good for the kids but there are too few live exhibits.may not worth a second trip there with full charged admission.
We love it so much we became members! It's close by for us and its a great place to take the kids to burn energy and have a picnic. The butterfly garden in the summer is our favorite, but we love all the exhibits. Hoping the ice carving demonstrations return soon!
What an amazing facility! I thoroughly enjoyed my visit on a cold, cloudy afternoon in February. The birds are beautiful. The center is well staffed with friendly, helpful folks. The visitors center has an impressive display of fish, owls, snakes as well as a book collection and more. Educational and fun. We are fortunate to have a facility like this for birds of prey in our area. Most definitely worth a visit.
if you are looking for a place just to chill-out, read a good book, trail hiking, trail walking and horticulture, Wild life education, then The Chattahoochee Nature Center will be the place for you. The Nature Center is situated on approximately 127 acres of land. it has the following facilities:* Wild life gift and craft shop* Wild life rehab center* Huge Hall suitable for wedding rental* Camp site for adults and kidsApart from the above, there are walking trails; a combination of hilly dirt, wooded trails and leveled board walks. Along the board walk you will find lookout spots with seats where you can relax for a while and enjoy looking over the river or spy on the birds. There are also various species of animals such as Owls, Crows, American bald headed eagles, Beaver. I believe the have one of the oldest beavers in the USA. There is also snakes, raccoon, turtles, lizards and other animals. The Nature Center has one of the most beautiful gardens and butterfly sanctuary, this is most evident during the spring and summer times. This is an home for some of the rarest plants in the USA. i guarantee you will love this place. My family and I enjoyed it and you too will.. :) Enjoy..!!
The Nature Center is great for lots of reasons but I love to go for live music. And during the spring the plant sale if wonderful! A must visit for every family.
I recently booked a custom canoe trip for a group of senior citizens. The guides, Alicia and Sam were fantastic! The trip was a first for many of the paddlers and everyone LOVED it. The nature center in and of itself is a fanastic local resource - stop by and check it out for yourself!
It was very hot and humid the day we visited but that didn't stop us from enjoying the grounds and seeing the nature exhibits. Great place to take kids to help them learn about some features of creation.
