This area of the city was in relatively good shape when I visited back in 93. The homemade ice cream parlor just off to the Left was excellent! Around the corner there used to be Communist decorations... now all forgotten!
Even though it was early March people where sitting outside wrapped in blankets enjoying the first weak sunrays. Coffee, beer, ice cream, pizzas, Souveniers ...it is all here.
I visited Tkalciceva Street in February and all the time I stayed in Zagreb was snowing and freezing. So a lot of the open air terraces from the pubs and restaurants were closed or with few tables occupied. Of course there were some 1 or 2 exceptions. Also there weren't so many people on the street who had the courage to confront the weather. Without the liveliness of the terraces and other activities, Tkalciceva is just an elegant street with some interesting historical buildings, not very different from other ones in several eastern and central European cities. Altogether it has his charm, with some good pubs, but I still think that Tkalciceva reveals it's true splendor in sunny days. In conclusion, in winter, on cold, rainy or snowy days you can visit Tkalciceva once or twice tops and have a coffee or a good meal.
Very nice streetfull of caffes that leads you too bar Khala at the top, feels like you are in Paris when you are walking in this street
Street is located near the main square, with a length of about 500 meters there are more than 150 bars and restaurants. It's alive in the morning until late at night. It is necessary to see
It's a place to go for a coffee, a meal of just to meet people. Always crowded and lively. Many restaurants and bars, something for every taste.
This is just up a lane from the left side of the main square as you face the hill. Its an interesting place for a stroll and a coffee or a meal. We had a meal at Mali Medo and although basic, it was traditional and funBeing the old town it has a little more to offer in historic structures than the rest of the city which is relatively plain - even the locals we met didn't believe this city has much to offer the tourist
Best street ever with its own atmosphere. Small buldings and a lot of bars, pubs and coffe places. Perfect for morning and especially evening. For coffee and beers as well.
nice bars, good coffee, to many people, very very lively place, people say that it is much better during off season, but definitley must see
Old street full of wonderful cafes and restaurants, a place that every visitor should see Zagreb. Very close to the main square, the Cathedral and the main market
